WTB: Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Graphics Dock

Hello, Does anyone know what happened to this egpu dock? I can't seem to find it anywhere and it looks as though Lenovo has pulled it from their site. I'm looking for this portable egpu that will suffice for 3D animation and 2D work (I don't game or render, so a Quadro card is a bit overkill for wha...

Boe Hydis in Samsung Galaxy Book Flex

I was looking at the Samsung Galaxy Book Flex with the QLED display, and apparently it is made by Boe Hydis. I wonder if we will see this in future Lenovo/Thinkpad laptops.

Re: A decent laptop with 3:2 aspect ratio

Both of you should check out the Microsoft Surface Book 2. The Core i5 models are less likely to throttle, and are also lighter than the Core i7 ones. If 13.5" is too small, get the 15.0-incher, although Core i7 seems to be the only option. Thanks! I just looked at the Surface Book 2. They are quit...

Re: A decent laptop with 3:2 aspect ratio

I'm currently using my Samsung Chronos 7 series (2012, i7 Quad core/AMD Graphics), which is slower than the Huawei Matebook X Pro, which I was quite surprised about. The screen size is extremely tempting and the specs are powerful enough for my needs as an artist/animator. The thing that is concerni...

Huawei Matebook X Pro has a 3.2 ratio screen?

Has anyone purchased this laptop? It foregoes the conventional wide screen and offers a screen that has more vertical estate which has been it's biggest selling asset. There has been very positive reviews on this laptop - especially in the audio department. (Ratio - 3.2) 3000 x 2000 It make me wonde...

Re: Old member looking for new laptop

I've been out of the scene for a while too. What do you normally use your laptops for? I think there maybe a cut in available ports in these later models and I have no idea if the screens have any of the matte options you may have enjoyed in the past.

Re: Is it worth buying a Thinkpad?

I guess that all depends on what your going to use it for. I still have my T60p and it's one laptop I'll never get rid off as I plan to connect it to a couple of speakers and will use it for music. The only reason why I stopped using it is because it doesn't have the power to run the applications th...

Re: Thinkpad or Clevo?

After much research and talk, it looks like I may have to opt for some sort of gaming laptop. I've narrowed it down to an Asus G501 with a 1080p screen. It's supposed to run cool and quiet so that I dont make people frown in the library.

Re: Thinkpad or Clevo?

Been using my friends MSI GE620 DX and it runs super hot with the fans always on. I am guessing that the Dell and MSI maybe similar due to them both being quad core too.

I will have to do some more Clevo and W550 research.

Thinkpad or Clevo?

Hi there, I wasn't to sure which category to post this question in, so please feel free to move it if necessary. I'm having to upgrade my T60p into something faster in order to run 3d animation programs. I have been looking at these 3 machines: Thinkpad W550 MSI WS60 Dell 3M800 All three of these ar...

Re: Here's your Broadwell Thinkpad: W550s Are you dissapointed?

I've been looking into both of these laptops as I travel quite a bit and need something lighter than the T60p I've been carrying. However, more importantly is that I need to upgrade to a new laptop due to the animation software I use such as 3Dsmax 2016 which doesn't run on my T60p(found that out af...

Aahh - I was hoping you was going for the DVI as I wanted to know the results as my current (very old) graphics card doesn't have DVI.:D Also - that monitor doesn't seem to overly heavy for it's specs: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/230552/Sony-Gdm-F520-Marketing.html?page=2#manual unlike mine htt...

Re: Anyone still use a CRT monitor?

Well, I wouldn't be able to watch that for long, I'd get dry eyes and feel kind of dizzy after a while, I'd prefer a TFT if I couldn't increase the refresh rate. Well - it's the standard XBOX 360 resolution. Even if I were to play it on a 120Hz, it would still only output at 60 Hz. Your probably th...

Re: Anyone still use a CRT monitor?

Being a PC only kind of person, I donno anything about scalers and such. I do know that all HDMI to VGA converters I have seen are limited to 1920x1080@60Hz max, or something like that, low horizontal refresh limit. Using a CRT at 60Hz is painful. Really?!? I use my XBOX 360 on my Sony fw900 and it...

Re: Anyone still use a CRT monitor?

Those are some nice resolutions your monitor is sporting there. I notice that it also has a USB hub too. How are you getting 100Hz on1400x1050 as well as 170Hz on the 800x600? What graphics card are you using? The USB hub doesn't support USB 2.0 so it's not very useful, so I removed it (this monito...

Re: Anyone still use a CRT monitor?

It's probably not possible to be honest. LCDs are a matrix of pixels, so they have one true resolution. CRTs consist of a phosphor surface that's scanned from behind by three electron beams, so really they have no fixed resolution. I've heard before that 1600x1200 LCD panels handle 800x600 well, si...

In regard to losing contrast and other specs over time due to age; i'm not sure about other CRT's, but i know that this Sony can have it's specs reseted to get it back to normal by tweaking the options. I own an IPS LCD; AOC 24 inch monitor with Onkyo Speakers and Miracast* and I also have a Sony 24 trinitron 16:10 widescreen CRT (gdm-fw900) that I paid £80 for. I really do like the CRT and it's nice to have a selection of different resolution running at 85hz, which makes it easy on the eyes. I als...

Re: Smartphones : who has one ? Favorite OS ? Brand ?

I dont own any of the above brands. I own a Sonim XP5300 3G which I have owned and has taken a battering for over 2 years. The battery life lasts for over a week and it's dust/shock/water proof and has a rather loud ring tone. It also covers all of the GPRS/UMTS bands. It was rather expensive, but I...
