Why can't I swap out T60 SSD's between "identical" machines?
I own/maintain 10+ T60s all of the same machine type (2007-72U) and OS (Win 7 Pro) . In the past whenever one of the T60s would fail I would just swap the HD over to a spare T60. This process worked well for me for years. I have recently started to replace some T60 HDs with SSDs all of the same type...

Re: QUES: anyone have the Intel 330-series SSDs working on T60?
To answer my own question: the Intel 330 120 GB SSD works fine on a T60. I had no issues with a bare metal Win 7 Pro SP1 installation. I get a WEI "Primary hard disk" score of 6.8 (with disk compression). Regards.

Re: QUES: anyone have the Intel 330-series SSDs working on T60?
I've never tried one of these drives so wasn't going to reply, but since no one else is offering an opinion, I will offer this question... Why would you want to pay a premium price to get a drive that supports SATA3 speeds on a computer that will only run it at SATA1? I recommend you get the 320 se...

QUES: anyone have the Intel 330-series SSDs working on T60?
Does anyone have one of the new Intel 330-series SSDs working on the T60? I've read some indications of a problem in a Newegg review but other than that I don't have much to go on. LMK. TIA. Regards.

Exactly. I've managed to image the hard drive using a PCMCIA 1394 card. The USB problem, however, is a puzzler. Thanks for your help.

QUES: is the 600X USB port enabled in BIOS? ...
I'm trying to revive an old 600X (Win 2K) and I've got everything working except for the USB port. A couple quick questions: a.) is the USB port enabled in BIOS (it's on 47WW but I'm afraid to update it - I suspect the hard disk is going to go at any minute and I want to get the data off first)? b.)...

How bad is the T500 1280 X 800 LCD? I've been spoiled the last few years using T60 SXGA IPS displays and I'm curious how the two compare. I realize that the T500 has other display options but this is the only one available to me. TIA.

QUES: is the T500 a reliable TP?
Is the T500 a reliable TP? Any GPU (i.e., Intel vs. ATI) or other hardware "points of failure" that I should be aware of? I typically purchase 10+ laptops of the same type for my business/extended family - maintaining these TPs (i.e., reliability) is my overriding concern. TIA. Regards.

QUES: How difficult is it to replace a T60 system board?
I've had a GPU go on a T60 (2007-72U) that was "frozen" this past winter. How difficult, in general, is it to do a system board replacement on a T60? I've got the HMM procedure and I've done fan replacements on T4ns before but that's about it. LMK your thoughts: is this doable for the average Joe wi...

Re: Advanced Dock specs (and possibly small project)
The question I'd ask about a DYI ViDock2 is why bother. The empty ViDock2 box is ~$200. Add in a favorite video card, and in under 10 minutes, you're up and running. Yeah, if I had unlimited time and my time was worth $.50/hour, maybe this'd be worth looking at. I can see where this might be intere...

Re: Multiple Monitors on the W510 - a great solution (with pics)
The Vidock seems like a good product which has its uses. I was just picking up on the false statement of full X16 bandwidth. OK, sorry, now I understand what you were trying to say: end-to-end PCIe 2.0 X16. Nope, not via ExpressCard (X1) or any other mobile chipset PCIe interface. Nonetheless, I ha...

Re: Multiple Monitors on the W510 - a great solution (with pics)
If you connect a 16 lane bridge to a 1 lane street you will have the throughput of one lane. Period. Agreed. The point that was being made previously is that ViDock-2's bridge seems to provide a proper PCIe 2.00 X1 implementation (i.e., 2.Gbps/500MB/s clear ). What concerned some of us was a repeat...

The ViDock 2's single lane pair (i.e., X1) and a PCIe v. 2.0 video card should give you 500MB/s on the bus (i.e., double the ATI v5200). Not bad. Thanks for your efforts.

Re: Multiple Monitors on the W510 - a great solution (with pics)
Sorry to burst your bubble, but expresscards only have one lane, so its x1, not x16. With PCIe 2.0 that limits the throughput to about 500MB/s. Dummvogel, Unless, of course, this device provides " ... an extension of the PCI-Express bus ... " (i.e., bridging). Multiple Monitors on the W510 - a grea...

Re: QUES: Has anyone restored a T6n (w. partition) from WHS?
If the blinking cursor is your only outstanding issue, you may be able to use the MBR repair disk to fix it. I'll give this a shot. On the other hand, WHS can see Vista preload's service partition and back it up. What is the file system type used by your Vista preload's service partition? I'm guess...

You need to set SATA in the BIOS to compatibility mode. When the installation is finished, change it back to AHCI mode. RealBlackStuff, Thanks very much for your reply. I tried that change in BIOS already: no joy. I'm not sure what's wrong - I'm just going to have to play around with this some more.
