Wow! Hoarding comes to mind. That's why I buy now the 12.1" models, they're easier to store :D (just kidding) I have my TPs neatly stored in few cabinets, so they don't take THAT much of space, but now I need to be careful, the wife started complaining... Do you have the X230s or X240s (slim versio...

Re: Thinkpad 25: 6 months and a 6 cell battery later (PICS)
I use my T25 sparely, but few weeks ago Windows reported that my 61 battery (which was the original delivered battery) was dead and needed replacement. This surprised me a little, I have older batteries from the xx40 and xx50 generations and they still work. Luckily these are not difficult to source...

Interesting... I also have a 2nd hand T23 but the lid looks still like new. Everything in this T23 shines, I'll keep that link handy in case my lid degrades in the future...RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 12:50 pmThe T23 is used occasionally to remove SVP and CT, it has the 1.2 CPU, 1GB RAM, wifi and a de-rubberised lid.

Unfortunately those screens were not particularly bright.
Plus the T61p screens are 16:10 vs 16:9 for the W520

Re: Thinkpad W520 screen replacement. Suggestion on after market screens.
I normally go to panelook.com and enter the model# in the search bar. Then if you scroll down, you see an overview of the models of your current screen first, and if you keep scrolling down, sometimes (it doesn't work for all LCD models) a list of compatible models. For example for my LP156WF1-TLB2:...

You got a compatible panel? I think you better upload a picture. Each manufacturer put stickers in different places.screenshot wrote: ↑Fri Jul 03, 2020 5:56 pmand which one is the correct number from the 3 of them at the back of the original old panel

Hi RBS! Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm not sure if the contacts are the same, these are new type of internal batteries used in newer TP generations. I'm not sure I'll be able to make my own extension cord anyway (actually, I'm sure I cannot :| ) But you got me now thinking if I could check if othe...

ThinkPad Yoga 12 battery charging problems
Hi! I have a ThinkPad Yoga 12 that doesn't charge or recognize a battery. I'm quite sure it's a motherboard issue since my almost identical TP Yoga S1 can charge the internal TP Yoga 12 battery without any issues. Needless to say, the TP Yoga 12 won't charge the TP Yoga S1 battery either. So I have ...

Here in Switzerland we have a lockdown as well. Only supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, post services and public transport is open. All the rest (schools, universities, shops, gyms, et all) are closed. Offices are closed and we're required to work from home. Since I have an IT related job I can do hom...

After that I realized CPU is soldered in. Somehow I took socket as granted, since a year ago I sold Dell M6700 where I even replaced GPU to 980M... Intel stopped producing socketed mobile CPU's around 2015 IIRC. Since the xx50 generation all CPU's are soldered. The last ThinkPads with socketed CPU'...

Re: Going to 24GB of RAM on my W540, does orientation make a difference?
I don't think it matters which slot.
My W540 has also 24GB, because I'm using 3x 8GB RAM modules, since one of the slot closing mechanism is slightly defective.
I can't remember though which one I left without RAM, I can take a look later when I'm back at home.

My main question is if these WQHD kits develop the same flickering issues as (some) of the FHD ones.

Re: Anyone here own an L440?
I own few L's (A L530 and L450) and they're very nice machines. Kind of a "cost effective" T series without being so cheap like the Edge or E series. I have found some decent deals on these (under CAD $100). That seems a good price. The xx40 generation is the last line of ThinkPads where you can swa...
