The utility itself that deletes the 10Gigs somehow combines the space back onto the C: drive.dmccombs wrote:When you did this, did the 10Gig show up as s separate partition that you could make into a D: Drive? Or were you able to combine it somehow to make a large C: Drive?

Re: T410s has twin ThinkLights!
Of course there is always something better coming - but in my case there was not great urgency now as opposed to 60 days from now, and I do make an effort to purchase early in lifecycle. Buying 45 days before a pretty major component upgrade does really disappoint me - and I did make some effort to ...

Re: T410s has twin ThinkLights!
Sheesh. Just got my 400s a few days ago. What's upgraded in the forthcoming 410s? <OK, a little research and I see it's a proc upgrade to Calpella. I'd have waited if I'd known... but this thing is pretty fast so I guess I'll live. Trying to convince myself it's not worth the hassle of returning a b...

Re: Recovering Disk Space & Clearing the Crapware on T400s
Does System Update 4 provide the supposed "Lenovo Enhancements" to Windows 7 that's so much talked about? No, that's the problem. Those enhancements require the use of the Win7 image Lenovo provided. And what I've figured out so far, is you can't use that image without all the stuff they install wi...

Re: Recovering Disk Space & Clearing the Crapware on T400s
Update II: It turns out the 'custom' option has been removed. I ran the Repair/Recovery and found that the option to not re-image the C: drive exactly back to factory state was not present. Called support again, and was told by a different tech that they removed that option. He described another met...

Re: Recovering Disk Space & Clearing the Crapware on T400s
Update for anyone interested - I finally got through to thinkpad support (after 3 hours of BS because my 1-day old system was not in their database...). What I was told was the only real thing to do was to re-install Win7 from the recovery CD, and that presented a 'custom' option which would enable ...

Re: Recovering Disk Space & Clearing the Crapware on T400s
I've removed everything possible, and then manually deleted files and folders that were no longer needed. There is a 2.x Gig folder of installers for things like Acrobat which were installed, so I archieved and removed that - still at about 20 gigs. <Note: corrected from first posted version). What ...

Ya, it was 10 Gigs. Says that after I made the recovery DVD's it ok to delete. In fact, just one button push does it.

Recovering Disk Space & Clearing the Crapware on T400s
Just got a new loaded T400s today, with the 64GB SSD drive. After removing the recovery partition and some other obvious stuff, I still have 33GB being consumed by Win7-64bit and MS-Office. The Dell I'm replacing has Win7 (16bit version) and Office plus lots of other apps in just 17GB of space - Wha...

BTW: My 400s shipped Weds, 6 days after placing the order. Hoping for delivery in the AM, since I paid for 2 day. If it makes it from Hong Kong to Bumbf*ck PA in 48 hours I'll be [censored] impressed. But excited at the prospect...

Re: Thinkpad T400s - Intel 80GB SSD Option - G1/G2, More Info?
Just spoke with Lenovo - the Intel X18 is not available on the multitouch due to pending compatiblity certification - not sure how a hard drive might be incompatible with a multi-touch display, but his guess was that since the MultiTouch is new, the X18 just hadn't been tested in it adequately. No i...

Re: Thinkpad T400s - Intel 80GB SSD Option - G1/G2, More Info?
Actually what's the best play here - upgrade to the Intel 80 for $100, or stay with the 64 for a while and let the Intel (and other) prices fall and upgrade in 6-9 months to a 240 for the same or less? I know the Intel is the state of the art, but how much better really in real world terms? [edit] a...

Re: Thinkpad T400s - Intel 80GB SSD Option - G1/G2, More Info?
Strange - It's an option on Enhanced but not on the model with Multi-Touch, which is what I ordered. Can't imagine why the different screen prevents the hard drive option, I bet they haven't upgraded the website yet. Thanks for pointing this out, will call Monday and see what I can find out - likely...

Where do you see the 80GB SSD option? I just placed an order Thursday for the 64GB, and would cancel and upgrade - but checking the site order form right now I do not see that option.

Re: T400s multitouch questions
Wondering the same thing. I ordered with the multitouch yesterday, but am now having second thoughts. At the time I hadn't read (and didn't expect) there would any negative impact to the general screen. Would be great to hear from somebody who has seen or used the MultiTouch display.
