They sure are, I bought three of them a while ago, one of them runs at very very low voltage.

Re: IBM_ECW : Power management tool for T4x/R5x
I think that IBM_ECW may cause some degree of instability on my R60 with Win7. On very rare occasions it crashes giving me a "hardware malfunction" it's probably also the reason why it sometimes freezes when changing from DC to AC power. Other then that it really does wonders for my R60, the T7200 2...

Re: someday wish: A30p
The A30 uses a different bottom chassis then the A31, so you need a new one. Also, when looking at A30 mobos, look for one with a square ATi logo on the GPU, those boards tend to last a very long time. The A31 cooler is great for Pentium III CPU's, use custom fan control so that the fan turns on at ...

Excellent update, it seems to work really well, the clock signal feature works much better now.

The new "cock signal" feature doesn't seem to have any positive effect, on Windows7 32 and 64 bit at least.

Re: Return of my A30
Alright, I finally finished my A30, still running CrunchBang, but now with good plastics kindly supplied by ajkula66 and a Zheino Classic A 32GB SSD, it's blazing fast, what more could I possibly want? A picture to go with it: http://cdn.head-fi.org/d/d7/d7564ce0_AUT_1302.jpeg Edit: by the way, it m...

Re: Anyone still use a CRT monitor?
The Sony Multiscan GDM-F520 has arrived, and it is a monster! 1600x1200@107Hz, I may be able to push a bit higher though, I just started testing it. I'll use it for a few days, as I know from experience, that such an old monitor (2003) that haven't been used for a while, will improve quite a bit ove...

WTB: A30 base.
Hello
I'm looking for a ThinkPad A30 base in good condition, unfortunately an A31 base won't do.
I'm also looking for a R60 15" 4:3 display bezel, also in good condition. has been ordered.
I would prefer buying them from someone within the EU.

Re: w510 Keyboards
I own all three different W510 keyboard brands and here are my impressions. The Chicony keyboards feel kind of clumsy, and the keys require too little force to be pushed down. The overall quality is poor, and the lettering has a tendency to fall off the keys in little flakes. Trackpoint keys are dec...

Re: IBM_ECW : Power management tool for T4x/R5x
Seems to work, my guess is the "clock signal" is the speed at witch the CPU clock is synchronized with system load correct? Does this mean IBM_ECW supports HPET? (QueryPerformanceFrequency = 14.31818 MHz, try WinTimerTester) Edit: the new IBM_ECW feature is causing some very serious DPC Latency prob...

Re: R60 display and CPU compatibility.
Got a no whitelist BIOS installed, so now I'm using a Intel Advanced-N 6200 AGN in my R60, I had to get a mPCI-E length adapter to make it fit.
Antennae wires are long enough for the short card, and the LED works too (the card came out of a ThinkPad).
Finally a wifi card without DPC latency spikes!

Re: Anyone still use a CRT monitor?
Aahh - I was hoping you was going for the DVI as I wanted to know the results as my current (very old) graphics card doesn't have DVI.:D Also - that monitor doesn't seem to overly heavy for it's specs: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/230552/Sony-Gdm-F520-Marketing.html?page=2#manual unlike mine ht...

Re: Anyone still use a CRT monitor?
I just bought a Sony Multiscan GDM-F520! What an excellent find! That monitor is pretty much the non widescreen version of mine. Will you purchase the DVI to BNC connectors for it? Yeah I was very surprised to find one, they are pretty much unobtanium. It's quite different from the FW900 though, it...

Re: Anyone still use a CRT monitor?
Well, I wouldn't be able to watch that for long, I'd get dry eyes and feel kind of dizzy after a while, I'd prefer a TFT if I couldn't increase the refresh rate. Well - it's the standard XBOX 360 resolution. Even if I were to play it on a 120Hz, it would still only output at 60 Hz. Your probably th...

Re: Anyone still use a CRT monitor?
Being a PC only kind of person, I donno anything about scalers and such. I do know that all HDMI to VGA converters I have seen are limited to 1920x1080@60Hz max, or something like that, low horizontal refresh limit. Using a CRT at 60Hz is painful. Really?!? I use my XBOX 360 on my Sony fw900 and it...

Re: Anyone still use a CRT monitor?
CRT's usually use 2-4x as much power as TFT's, but tend to last a lot longer, a lot of people use multiple TFT's, so energy consumption not much of a concern. With regards to the environment, it takes a more power to manufacture a TFT display and ship it to your doorstep, then a CRT monitor consumes...

Re: Anyone still use a CRT monitor?
Those are some nice resolutions your monitor is sporting there. I notice that it also has a USB hub too. How are you getting 100Hz on1400x1050 as well as 170Hz on the 800x600? What graphics card are you using? The USB hub doesn't support USB 2.0 so it's not very useful, so I removed it (this monito...

Re: Anyone still use a CRT monitor?
I use a Sony Multiscan CPD-G420 19" FD Trinitron monitor. As good contrast as the best plasma displays, no latency, no ghosting or blurry image when things are moved around on the screen, unlimited color resolution too. It can recalibrate it self to fit the SRGB standard, and after convergence has b...

Re: R60 display and CPU compatibility.
Got the display and CPU now for some testing. The UXGA IPS is PERFECT, completely flawless!!! Edit: well the T7200 is quite snappy little CPU and mine undervolts well, 2GHz@1.125v, 1.5GHz@ 0.95v. Max temp test yet to be done, I suspect it will max out just above 70C. Ooh, it does run quite a bit hot...
