Re: T440s Touch (large pics)

For as poor an ultranav device it is... there's a minimalist aesthetic appeal to that touchpad. I've used these 2013/2014 ThinkPads for 4 years now and never had a problem with the clickpad design, but clearly it wasn't favoured as the following generations had the traditional buttons again. The on...

T440s Touch (large pics)

Date of manufacture: 06/2014. In my opinion, probably one of the best-looking laptops ever made. It turns a lot of heads (and not just because this one has the touchscreen!) https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4791/25865471607_e86e01525d_c.jpg 2014 Lenovo ThinkPad T440s Touch https://farm5.staticflickr.c...

Re: T440s Bluetooth drop-out

I was using the machine today and for the first time since I reinstalled it on February 25th or whenever it blue screened - just a few seconds after my Bluetooth mouse stopped working. This reminded me that I needed to find some time to open the machine up and reseat the wireless cards, so I did tha...

Re: T440s Bluetooth drop-out

I think so. Also, the pins on the module are more likely to be corroded than the pins themsleves. Be careful w/ the pins in the socket, they can be damaged easily. Cotton fibers from cottonswabs could prevent contact on the pins. Also, a few insertions and removal can help clean the pins. The connec...

Re: T440s Bluetooth drop-out

While just about any card, (even sound cards, Ive seen it) can die, I doubt yours is faulty. It just doesnt seem that probable for a 4 y/o card to die. I'd reseat it first, clean the connector, check the antennas, and all those thigs before you spend money on a card that likely works fine. Thanks. ...

Cheers for quick response and by the way I have just noticed that I've posted this in the wrong forum section (sorry!) Looking online some people say to see if the option to disable the Bluetooth when running on low battery/power etc is enabled by default and disabling it fixes the issue, but I've d...

T440s Bluetooth drop-out

Hi all, I've got a T440s which has some Bluetooth issues. To summarise a long story basically the Bluetooth tends to work for a little while and then drop-out completely (it's no longer detected in Windows 10 and the Bluetooth system tray icon is removed), but if I restart the machine or uninstall/r...

Lenovo ThinkPad L540 Review https://flic.kr/p/nKKLuc https://flic.kr/p/nHYpKp Before I begin… I would to like to point out that this is not a professional review, but simply a user’s review and my honest thoughts on the Lenovo ThinkPad L540. It is also not biased in any way. These are honest though...

I said there'd be more photos, and now there are! :) But first, I want to point you in the direction of this video which I recorded today to demonstrate how the L540 performs with the Seagate 1TB SSHD. As you can see, resuming from sleep isn't too bad and shut down and boot times are very good indee...

Re: New Firefox 29.0 is a bonkers, crap POS!

I was going to say- I really hope you could figure out the problem and fix it. Chrome shouldn't be behaving like that... I've lost count of how many computers I've installed Chrome on now (and used my sync settings with) and none of them had the same problem as the ThinkPad did. I think that cloned...

Re: New L540 *Large Pictures*

Just booted it up this morning. 15 seconds again. Pretty nice. :) If it remains this quick to boot and shut down I think I'll keep the SSHD unless I feel that I need the SSD. Applications load pretty quickly on this which is nice. I've got an SSD in my desktop and an SSHD in the ThinkPad, so I can c...

Re: New Firefox 29.0 is a bonkers, crap POS!

Well I did a fresh install of 8.1 Pro on the ThinkPad today to try and fix my 'slow SSHD' problems (and it worked). It also solved my 'Google Chrome didn't shut down correctly' error message, so I am now using Chrome on the ThinkPad once again. For the short time I used Firefox 29 it seemed decent b...

Re: Computers you've owned

Fantastic variety there! I've had a lot of variety too in my times. I've owned so many desktops now that I can't list them all but I think I've owned about 20 in my whole life - all from different manufacturers (but mostly HP) and I've also owned quite a few custom builds too since when buying deskt...

Re: New L540 *Large Pictures*

Quick update on the SSHD front! It seemed that doing a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro from the retail installation media has fixed my 'slow SSHD' problems for the time being. I got rid of all the weird partitions which the cloned HDD had put onto my SSHD and started fresh. At first, it didn't see...

Re: New L540 *Large Pictures*

Yeah I put it to sleep by closing the lid, and sometimes when I open it up again no matter what I do the laptop doesn't respond. I usually just shut the lid and open it up again and it's OK. I am just doing a fresh install of a retail copy of Windows 8 Pro right now. I think I may have had some prob...

Re: New Firefox 29.0 is a bonkers, crap POS!

I was using Chrome on the L540, but for some reason every single time I opened it up it said that it 'didn't shut down correctly'. This was massively frustrating and no matter what 'fixes' I did and how many times I reinstalled it nothing seemed to work. I think the problem was maybe to do with my s...

Yes, it finally showed up! I have it all configured and setup now and it is running very nicely indeed. Loving the 1080p display (with scaling at 100%). It is really nice and crisp and the real estate is excellent. I've been using it all day but coming back to the desktop with a 24" 1080p display, e...

Re: New L540 *Large Pictures*

It looks much easier to service than the T440. :) Happy ThinkPadding! Haha thanks! :) It was quite easy to pull apart and replace the HDD with the SSHD. I'm not however a great fan of the plastic caddies Lenovo use for these models but it does the job I guess. I was scared I was going to snap it wh...

New L540 *Large Pictures*

More pictures should be coming soon! So the Lenovo ThinkPad L540 turned up today. It's come all the way from Shanghai. Took 8 days to build and 3 to deliver, so that's less than 2 weeks from pressing the order button to having it in my hands which is pretty good. This laptop is more widely travelle...

Re: New Firefox 29.0 is a bonkers, crap POS!

OK so I updated Firefox on my Windows 7 virtual machine and now I have Version 29. It does look like a cross between IE11 and Google Chrome - it looks quite different to the last version which looked more like Opera than anything else, I thought. It does seem like quite a decent web browser. I've on...
