Re: Z565 - picked one up...had questions

For connecting with other IdeaPad owners of your model you would probably get a better response over at Lenovo's forum.
This forum is more geared for the ThinkPad product line.

Be more than glad to pass it along. I'm running Windows 7 Pro x64 on my desktop. I retrieved the fxsresm.dll.mui file from my SYSTEM32/EN-US folder. Its 162kb and zipped down to 35kb for e-mailing. Just PM me with your e-mail address and I will send it out.

Re: T43 1871-4BU | Modem dial & handshake sounds under W7

It maybe a long shot, but try going into Device Manager, then Modem, then Properties. Under the Advance tab trying entering..... AT&FM1L3 in the Extra Initialization Command box. You may have to access this as Administrator to to do and a reboot for it to take effect.

On the blue screen will be an error code which can be used to trouble shoot the problem. The next time you get a blue screen note the error code and then visit the website I have posted below. That website offers a listing of error codes and possible ways to resolve them. http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm

Try running Internet Explorer without ad-ons and see if the load time improves. If it does then suspect an ad-on is causing the delay. Newer versions of Adobe Flash and Shockwave were released which maybe taxing older systems. Personally on my older system I don't even use I.E. for everyday browsing...

Another handy place to put that button would be at the bottom of the Forum Index. That way when your at the bottom of the index and done reading you can mark all the unread topics as read rather than having to go back to the top of the index.

I've moved on to something newer as well. Only problem is on my triple boot desktop I have several software applications licensed for XP only. While I use Win 7 on a daily basis there is always a chance I will need to use the XP apps. Eventually I will get the newer versions of the apps and have the...

If you can't find the Windows 8/8.1 drivers then I would try installing the Windows 7 drivers in compatibility mode and then see how they perform.

Tonis, those three updates have been complained about in the past. They get stuck in an installation loop even though they were successfully installed. Microsoft doesn't have an answer and given the expiration date of XP they probably aren't looking too hard. I would do one of three things..... Firs...

You could also try VLC Portable for the DVD play back. Since it is portable, no installation is necessary to give it a try.

Have you considered hiding the DOS and Win98 partitions from XPs view? I had a problem with XP deleting the restore points on my triple boot XP - Vista - Win 7 desktop. Hiding the Vista and Win 7 partitions from XP solved my problem. I don't see why you could vary the procedure slightly and hide the...
