Re: T61P half mini PCI-E slot
I actually bought a 2GB turbo memory card for the half mini slot. It doesn't work. The BIOS seems to only allows specific cards to be in specific slots. And the only card that will work in the half mini slot is the wireless USB slot. You'd need a hacked BIOS to get it to work.

I read on the interwebs that if you have something plugged into the blue USB 3.0 ports, it won't boot and that Lenovo is fixing it.

Re: FHD Option Removed??
First FHD without MultiTouch dissapeared, now FHD with MultiTouch dissapears. I sure as heck am not going to buy a W510 with 1600x900 resolution. I called Lenovo and they said the FHD LCDs are on backorder due to high demand and that they will be available again in 4.5 weeks.

Thinking about upgrading to W510
I have a fully loaded T61P right now. While it is one of the best laptops i've ever owned, it does have some flaws. The screen being the main one. The W510 FHD LED backlit screen sounds very appealing to me, as does the quad core cpu and other newer features. Is it possible to get a W510 with the FH...

T61p Sound Issues with Windows 7
Every 30 seconds or so when I'm listening to music or watching a video, the speakers will emit a short popping, distortion, or crackle sound. I have Windows 7 64-bit and the latest drivers downloaded from Lenovo's website. I get this sound on my digital audio workstation when the CPUs are under an e...

Re: Problem Registering my N900 phone by bluetooth on a T60P
I can barely make out what that says. From what I can tell, it looks like there's 3 Bluetooth functions that aren't working. Maybe they are BT2.1 features that aren't supported by the BT2.0 chip in the T60? Did you try connecting to the internet and having it search for drivers?

Re: Will a Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500gb hardrive fit my T61?
I'm running the 500GB 7200.4 in my T61p with no issues. It's very quiet and it's actually faster than the Seagate 250GB in my desktop computer. I've never had a Seagate drive fail on me. However, if it does fail, Seagate is the parent company of i365 data recovery services. Instead of doing a warran...

That would explain why I never saw it. There isn't a picture on the internet that shows the right side. Just the back and left.
I'm going to try and pick one up for $35 and use it to watch HD movies and music on my home theatre via S/PDIF and DVI.

Yeah. I don't mind it having a new motherboard, and a bunch of stuff missing. I paid less and bought what I wanted. It's like a ghetto CTO system.bill bolton wrote: More strong evidence that it is a FrankenPad![]()

Re: Bought a used (Shady) T61P, Need some help.
Like I said, I bought it from a large company/liquidation center that's been in business for 10 years. I highly doubt they've been selling stolen goods. It's most likely just an out of warranty laptop that someone partially replaced the motherboard on.. and left it at that. If someone could tell me ...

Re: Bought a used (Shady) T61P, Need some help.
I went through every configuration possible on Lenovo's driver lookup page, and none of them match. Then I went to the warranty information page, and typed the serial number from the sticker on the frame. I tried the serial number with each of the 8 different type #'s it could be. The only one that ...

Re: wifi card with promiscouos mode support
I don't know of many sexually active WiFi cards. Just kidding. Any wireless card can support promiscuous monitoring mode. It's not a limitation of the card, but the drivers that the manufacturer supplies. The 4965AGN does support it. You need Intel's PROSet Drivers, and I believe it gives you ...

The 2GB and 4GB Turbo Memory modules support something called 'User Pinning'. With the Intel utility, you can select files to be copied to the memory. A lot of people put Windows boot files, MS Office, Photoshop, and stuff on there. From what I read, the original Turbo Memory cards were more like an...

WWAN AND Turbo Memory at the same time! (PIC)
I originally wanted WWAN, Wireless N, Bluetooth, and Wireless USB. But I realized that I could either have BT or WUSB, but not both because they share an LED indicator on the screen. However, I don't like unused slots. I noticed that the new generation (post 2008) Intel Turbo Memory cards come in a ...

The sticker that's on the magnesium chassis: It has a type and serial number. Is this referring to the computer as a whole? Or are those just part numbers for the chassis? When the laptop randomly shuts down, do you need to unplug it and plug it back in? I noticed when my T61 went into thermal protection mode, it would shut off and it wouldn't turn back on until I unplugged it. (The little a/c power LED on the screen would go out)

Re: Various questions about T60p upgrades?
1. The 640GB WD hard drive, despite being 5400rpms, is only marginally slower than a 500GB 7200rpm drive. This is because both hard drives have 2 platters... The 500GB has (2) 250GB platters, and the 640GB has (2) 320GB platters. The data is more tightly 'packed' on the 640GB drive, which means less...

I think the palmrest may be from another T61. The FRU doesn't match any of them in my service manual. So maybe it did have a fingerprint scanner and Vista on it. When I take it apart completely, i'll be able to see the FRU # on the base cover. Assuming it hasn't been replaced, it should tell me what...

- SSDs usually maintain 80% of their speed ratings. A drive rated for 210MBp/s will slow down to about 180. This is normal. - It would be good to buy a drive that supports TRIM and use it with Windows 7. Normally when you delete a file, the blocks on the hard drive are marked as empty, and not actua...

Yeah, I have no idea. I verified that I do in fact have a real T61p. I downloaded some program on my USB Ubuntu OS that displayed the hardware specs. It listed a QuadroFX 570M. I don't think it's stolen. I bought it from a reputable company on eBay. I believe it was some sort of liquidation company. I bought other things from them too, and they felt it was necessary to remove the labels. It's just annoying.
