T60P Replacement Fan - 41W6407 or 41V9932 (2007-93U)
Hi there, After 6+ years, the fan on my T60P (2007-93U) is finally dying and I need to get a replacement. Does anyone know whether the 41W6407 heatsink+fan can be used, or must it be 41V9932? I noted an earlier topic http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=89929 which seemed to imply that a ...

Can someone point me in the right direction to create a bootable DOS DVD so that I can try to flash the eeprom using the Intel utility? I've tried the first couple of links from Google, including "Bart's way to create bootable CD-Roms" without success. Would really like to get rid of this Checksum e...

Thanks f1reverb - they are indeed all original disks. It's more a problem of storage as I simply have too many of them and am moving overseas, so before I put them into storage I want to rip them to disk. Thanks Christopher - I'm using Gentoo, so I should be able to grab those packages and integrate...

Thanks Chris. Do you know/have any experience of playing back WMA Lossless on Linux? I think it will according to the document shown at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Media_Audio I don't have an iPod device (no plans to get one yet) and having the ability to play/store the files on either Win...

Thanks tfflivemb2!! I didn't think the soundcard was important during the conversion process from CD....I'd just heard of audiophiles complaining about the quality of those fitted as standard to laptops. If it's only for playback that this becomes an issue, then that's OK for me for now. I was going...

Ripping Audio to CD - Soundcards
Hi there, I have a whole heap of CD's that I want to store on a hard drive (both on the Thinkpad's drive and externally). I found a great comparison of the Codecs to use from http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Lossless_comparison My question is this: When I am ripping from CD to one of th...

Re: Horrific situation
3. Never made it to boot again on anything. When making up a partition from boot disk utilities (Hiren's Boot CD), the disk won't boot, the Windows XP won't reinstall as it does not find any hard drives installed. Shot in the dark - I don't know what "Hiren's Boot CD" is, but perhaps it does not ha...

So, just to be sure, the drive bay adapter listed here is for an SATA drive and NOT for the old PATA drives??
Do IBM make a PATA Ultrabay adapter for the new T60 range (ie so you can slip in an old PATA drive?)

I just called Levnov. The sales said none of the T60p had been shiped because of the shortage of graphic card. r1ych is so lucky. Hope I can be as lucky as you. jdebord - does your UPS tracking number come up on the Lenovo website? I just checked my T60P (200793U) order and it said it had shipped today. However, the tracking link doesn't work (only has "1Z" as the tracking number). Does this take a while to update on the website? Hey! Is this the first T60...

Expected Ship Dates for T60/T60P
Hi everyone,
Now we're into March and a number of people have ordered their T60's, I just wondered what estimated ship dates people were having for their T60/T60P's to be delivered in North America?

I'm sure that when T-Mobile USA upgrades it's network, you'd be able to get a PCMCIA card to install into the T60. It would probably be similar to the following UK offerings: T Mobile UK 3G (UMTS) Card UK Vodafone Mobile Connect 3G/GPRS data card If you really can't wait for the built-in Cingular of...

Placing the order over the phone is better than online?
I'm thinking of buying a Thinkpad so I called Lenovo for some general warranty information today. At the end of the chat I said I would have a think about placing an order and would do so online when I was ready. She suggested that I should call in the order rather than use the website, as it can ge...

You can use the TA book here to get a full list of all of the available Thinkpad models and then plug the IBM part number (eg 200767U ) into the website bibo mentions.
Hope that helps...

Will the T60 feature the Intel Duo T2700 With VT Support?
An interesting article at http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/01/16/intel_core_duo_vt/ indicates that the T2300, T2400, T2500 and T2600 Dual Core chips won't necessarily support Intel's Virtualisation Technology (VT). The VT sounds interesting - I know there's plenty of options for running multiple Op...

I have a spare battery for my T23 which hasn't been used much.
When I leave this spare out of the laptop, should I leave it charged or discharged?

Slightly related question - I'm potentially going to be moving a drive from a T20 to a T23. Last time I did this, I believe it blue screened straight away (different hardware) and I didn't try the safe mode option. Long story, but I don't want to re-build the O/S if I can help it - the goal is to si...

What do you use now, or is this a new machine that you'll be using on the road? If you're used to the XGA resolution, I think it'll be a great machine and personally I'd get the T42. I use an XGA on a T23, and whilst I'd like SXGA screen, I'm now so used to XGA that I have no regrets. And that price...

My Company's Discount Page has gone
Hi all, I used to use a URL similar to: http://www.ibm.com/shop/ibmdeals/xxxx To access an EPP plan for my company (xxxx being a 4 digit number for my company). I noticed today that when I try the number belonging to my company, it takes me to a page where the EPP looks to be in order, but there are...
