Re: Completely stuck with 2503 Advanced dock and Nvidia 1030

Since you verified that problem is not with your laptop 1st guess: the dock is not 100% operational (i bet on that one) 2nd guess: faulty Nvidia card Obviously what a technician would do: 1. try the configuration with some other graphics card 2. try another dock with the very graphics card in questi...

Quite a lot of them, including React OS, Manjaro and etc. It freezes after I install the os and running it. 1. Do you install in text mode or graphical mode? 2. Does the freeze occur on entering graphical mode/before it, or AFTER you enter graphical mode (what is the delay if so?) 3. Can you provid...

Re: T60 hardware mod to undervolt CPU below 0.95V [updated +photos]

That does not make any sense, because any derivative of Yonah worked with Throttlestop 8.50. I tested it ages ago, when I still had a Socket M laptop. Furthermore, there is also this image that shows Throttlestop 8.70 working with a Merom. No matter what "makes sense" according to you it is impossi...

Re: T60 hardware mod to undervolt CPU below 0.95V [updated +photos]

Very interesting results, but I recall that Throttlestop 8.50 was still supported under Windows XP with Service Pack 3 and 2000 with Service Pack 4. In fact, I am currently using a laptop with Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 that is capable of running Throttlestop 8.50. I believe there may b...

T60 15.4'' 7iuj17us/uc (1.19) 7IET38WW BIOS ISO, Slic 2.1, whitelist removed

Introduction: My old FireGL5250 15.4'' T60 motherboard refused to boot with a WiFi card scavenged from some later Lenovo laptop (whitelist lock). I have searched Internet resources for a whitelist-free BIOS upgrade for my motherboard. I found only windows flash version ( https://forums.mydigitallife...

Re: T60 hardware mod to undervolt CPU below 0.95V [updated +photos]

Strange, Throttlestop 8.50 did happen to work on my Core Duo T2700. I don't see why would a Core 2 Duo T7400 be considered an 'unsupported CPU', especially if a Core Duo T2700 is still in the list of 'supported' processors for Throttlestop. I see, and thanks, but there is no need for proof. CPU-Z r...

Re: T60 hardware mod to undervolt CPU below 0.95V [updated +photos]

Thank you for explaining the "green wire mystery". Could you run Throttlestop to confirm that the voltage selection has changed? I have a feeling that NHC might be inaccurate. I could not run Throttlestop above 6.0 (8.3 gives "unsupported CPU" error, 8.7 "not valid win32 application" error). 6.0 giv...

Re: T60 WindowsXP customised recovery project

What you wrote about would be the best alternative to messing with original R&R set, the thing is I already implementad that solution (save WSUS part) using Easeus HDD backup tool. I wanted to go beyond that, but (as I wrote above) I hit the wall of my ignorance of R&R innards.

Youtube streams x264 movies. After I switched from T5600 to T7400 I have no problems with 1080p x264 (32 bit winXP, firefox + some plugin that allows FF to play yt without flash). However, aside from yt the 1080p video encoded with x265 (HEVC) is unwatchable (except for low bitrate parts). Switching...

Re: Those who own the 15" T4xp laptops, how useful are they in 2017?

I am late to the party, but here are my 2 cents: 1. Silence: I have experience with all ATI T60s (x1300, x1400,x1600) and T2500, T5600, T7400 CPUs. These machines are really loud in comparison to T42. I love silence so I am still using T42 (15' XGA, Radeon 7500, 2GB RAM) for programming (Eclipse) an...

Re: Undervolting Ati x1300 / x1400 gpu in T60? Any solution?

It is impossible to undervolt x1300-x1600 gpu, these chips did not allow that. You can underclock as low as 141 GPU/ 126(63) RAM, and that's all (without too many artifacts, no artifacts require 160-170/135). If you don't use 3d that is enough. The only tool that worked for me (T60 with x1300 GPU) w...

Did any one particular lubricant result in a permanent repair? To me, "permanent" means 2-3 years of 12 hour/day use. Besides the fluids and greases discussed upthread, I've also seen graphite recommended elsewhere. (...) but the most expensive of the recommended lubricants, Nano-Oil, costs $22 fro...

CPU Temperatures: T2500 vs T5600 vs (? T7200)

I have recently replaced cpu t2500 with t5600. I have previously made a copper-shim mod on GPU (x1300). The CPU temperatures at NHC setting 'Max battery' made the range 59-65 for TPFanControl turn the fan (level 1 => ca 2.9 - 3 K rpm) on 3-4 times an hour. After changing to t5600 I am getting the fa...

Was t42 15,1'' with ATI 7500 affected by the problem with GPU solders? Is my t42, after 5 years of not causing any problem likely to fall prey of 'cold solder disease'?
