Replacement 1TB SSD drive with encryption for X1C (4th gen)
Considering X1C (4th gen). Desire hardware encryption drive. Lenovo only has 256GB for this model. I can get a third party 1TB drive with encryption. Will the X1C take the typical 2.5" SSD drive (samsung, intel, etc.)? Thanks! Nevermind on this. I'm now leaning more towards the P50 for the flexibili...

That is what I would hope, but don't have 100% confidence that they designed it that way.jcvjcvjcvjcv wrote:zekeblue wrote:
Euh, with SPDIF input, the signal is already digital, so no DAC / ADC.

Re: Digital Audio (spdif or optical) into laptop
I would say you need an external soundcard for that, either Expresscard or USB with the appropriate input. Thanks..... I will research that route. So far I've been looking at recording interfaces primarily designed for musicians. Some do have spdif in and firewire to the laptop, but I'm trying to f...

Digital Audio (spdif or optical) into laptop
Anyone know the best way to take a spdif (coax) or optical digital audio signal from a high quality DAC/ADC and input into T510 for recording? I'm not finding anything that will convert to USB and most products have their own processing instead of pass through.
Thanks.....
Thanks.....

Re: How is this a business laptop?
My final choice was between the HP elitebook 15" and the Thinkpad T510. The lack of the numeric keypad (ie, typing position centered on screen) was one of the top reasons for going with the Thinkpad. I spent some time in Office Depot and Best Buy sitting in front of 15" machines with numeric keypads...

New information, this time directly from Lenovo......... Well, it looks like you can change computers with one of these drivers according to Lenovo's FAQ, which I believe is really Seagate's as they use Seagate FDE drives: Can I move an encrypted drive to another ThinkPad and still access the data? ...

Re: Change MAC address of Intel 5300 Wifi card?
So, getting back to this topic, does anyone know if there's any little utility for windows that might allow someone to do this? It'd be nice if cygwin had ifconfig, but i even if it did, i doubt that'd work as it probably would only work if a linux driver had exclusive access to the device. so - an...

Did you check the power settings and make sure that "lid closed" is set for "does nothing"?

Re: Ordering T510:Questions: Sound,Disk encryption,Wifi adaptor
Is this a potential show-stopper problem if you set up the bios/drive to be password protected and your laptop craps out? Moving the HD to another laptop, it'd be unusable, and with your usual Tpad dead, would you be totally locked out from using the HD anywhere?? Good question. I am assuming you c...

Re: Ordering T510:Questions: Sound,Disk encryption,Wifi adaptor
I've got a T510 with a Seagate 500GB encrypted disk. I believe it is the same line as what Lenovo offers, but bigger than their max size available. It is the same as FDE (full disk encryption). It is hardware encryption rather than software like bitlocker. It therefore creates less drag on drive spe...

Re: is there is a palmrest creaks in T410 and T510 by default ?
There are whiners and there are laptop owners. Sometimes those two can be combined into one individual. Don't order the Smartcard reader and you'll most likely have a good experience like I've had so far. I don't have a smartcard reader and I do have this particular creak. And don't call me a whine...

Well, I don't have any static, but the volume is unusually low. I have both the thinkpad's and my speaker volume up to about 3/4. I have two of the advanced minidock series 3 and both do the same.

Some folks say Windows runs even better on Macs than on PCs :D I think it has been true that you could run windows natively on Macs since Apple started using Intel processors instead of Motorola. I'm curious though if the trackpad will operate with multitouch with a windows driver instead of the ma...

Re: First Glance... T510
My low tech solution to protecting the display is to lay a dry sheet of Swiffer Sweeper over the keyboard before closing the lid. It is a soft layer that will keep keyboard imprints from occurring on the display. I don't yet have a thinkpad. My 15" Asus M6BNe accommodates it fine. However, my wife's...

Well, I planned out my T510 system in the Visa Cardholder pages on Sunday and saved the cart. Today I saw the USPRESIDENTSDAY code for another 10% so I decided to pull the trigger. Went into my saved cart and found the price for the unit went up about $130 and my 10% code saved about $160. So they r...

T510 Integrated Graphics and Mini Dock Plus eSATA?
I think I fit it all in the title! I'm working my way through choices between W510/T510 Integrated/T510 Discrete. I've pretty much moved away from the W510 due to battery life and size/weight of AC Adaptor. I do no gaming and could probably do fine with the integrated graphics. However, that means g...
