Re: BIOS Bricked x60s L7400 - recovery options?

My x60 has a T7200 64 bit processor, however the MB chipset is 32 bit. We flashed the BIOS per the instructions https://libreboot.org/docs/install/inde ... lenovobios. This was a software flash method. The link has some strategies for a bricked scenario. Let me know how you progress.

Re: Futureproofing X220

My plan is to use the x220 for 3 to 5 years, but I can't predict what use laptops will be in 5 years. Windows 10 brought all the drivers in during the install and ran very well, then I wiped it off and reinstalled Arch linux.

Re: cheapest (yet reliable) option to double X220 hard drive?

I'm running a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E250B/AM) and a Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB mSATA 2-Inch SSD (MZ-M5E250BW), and they cost about $85 each. In comparison to the Pro model (I have the Pro 840 msata & sata, plus a Pro 850 sata), I'm satisfied with the cost to reliabil...

Then I installed the Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory (CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10) set and my x220 matched with Samsung evo...

Re: Another successful X200 -> X201 transformation.

x200 transformation to x201 success! The system board replacement is a mild task. Most of my effort was applied to chasing down the hardware maintenance disk and making the USB bootable disk. I'm satisfied with how well it worked out. I'll upgrade the Intel SSD (r3500/w8600 IOPS) to a Samsung 840 Pr...

Re: Xubuntu Maverick Meerkat on an IBM T21

Going straight to Arch from Ubuntu is a "wide" step. Consider Zenwalk or Salix with Xfce as a "middle" step. We ran Zenwalk on a x31 and it performed very well. I tried several distros and always ended up back at Zenwalk because it "felt tight", "lean", and it used xfce (the benefit of the right cli...

**SOLD**: Thinkpad X31 with Runcore 32 GB SSD drive $225

I have a nice x31 with 2 GB of ram, factory bluetooth installed, and a 32 GB Runcore SSD drive. I have 2 batteries which are holding a decent charge (I have not timed them but I'm confident it is more that 1 hour for each battery, they are OEM IBM batteries). Also I will include a second x31 complet...
