Re: X240/s: How-to replace the Clunkpad with an X250 Touchpad+buttons
A summary of the procedure required under Windows 10: As earlier messages in this thread make clear, thanks to RBS, it's possible to replace the X240/s clunkpad with the X250 Touchpad and make it work under Windows 10. This post is only a summary of previous posts, with a new download to make thing...

Re: How to disable/ remove computrace
Computrace is in a part of the BIOS that can't be changed by flashing programs. Flash programs don't even see that it's there. Read the articles linked in that other thread.

Perhaps you should read the thread that I linked to before doing anything more.

Re: How to disable/ remove computrace
Have you tried the number a second time, as suggested in this thread: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=114641 The ONLY other way is to send the machine to someone who can physically modify the BIOS, and charges a fair price for his time and expertise. The person on this forum who can ...

ThinkPad X270 - upgrade wifi to wifi 6?
I've just installed a wifi 6 router and the speed difference is dramatic. Is it possible to upgrade the wifi card that came in my ThinkPad X270 with a wifi-6 enabled card? Will the BIOS whitelist get in the way? I see that the card is physically replaceable, but don't know about the whitelist. Thank...

Re: Machines without serial numbers
TL;DR That's amazing information that isn't too long and which everyone needs to read. I've already returned the machine - for some compulsive reason, I like to have a serial-number label on the machine - makes life easier. I looked inside, but there was no label there anywhere. What you say sounds...

Machines without serial numbers
I hope it's OK to ask a question that's specifically about a ThinkCentre desktop, not a ThinkPad. Recently I bought (and quickly returned) a "refurbished" ThinkCentre M910t that came without a serial number label on the case and without a serial number or asset tag in the BIOS. Lenovo's web site wou...

What a very weird link that is:
There's no domain (.com, .co.uk, etc.) at the end, so it can't possibly link to anything. It's useless, but not dangerous.

Re: X240/s: How-to replace the Clunkpad with an X250 Touchpad+buttons
I had a very hard time getting the Synaptics driver installed with the latest Windows 10 update, but finally got it to work - at least it's still running after two or three restarts. It took about four tries, and I don't know what finally worked, but I think one thing MAY have been useful. I use Eas...

Re: What to do if Computrace is activated in your TP BIOS
Probably what happened was that the machine's serial number was deactivated by its previous owner. But the only way the machine can phone home and learn that it's been deactivated seems to be through Windows. It wasn't Windows that removed it - it was the fact that the BIOS was able to phone home th...

ThinkCentre 910t - add M.2 drive? bracket needed
I have a two-year-old ThinkCentre 910t tower, type 10MM (originally belonging to my son), to which I want to add an M.2 storage drive. The HMM shows the drive as fitting into a bracket that needs to be installed next to the system board, but this isn't in the machine, because it didn't ship with an ...

WTB - Plastic feet for X240s (or similar models)
Thanks to the amazing work of RBS on this site, I have a rare ThinkPad X240s in working, up-to-date condition. The only problem it has is that two of the four plastic feet on the base are soft, as if they melted. I suspect that those two feet are non-Lenovo parts of the kind that seem to everywhere ...

Re: X240/s: How-to replace the Clunkpad with an X250 Touchpad+buttons
I got this method to work on the latest Win10 version (1909), though I'm not sure exactly how I did it. Basically, I kept installing and reinstalling (using a plugged-in mouse to navigate). When I finally got the ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device to install, on maybe the sixth or seventh try, I didn...

X250 - pale screen
The keyboard and trackpad in my wife's trusty X250 failed, so I bought a replacement X250 on eBay and installed the SSD from the old machine into the new one. All seems well, except that the screen looks pale, and my guess is that my wife's machine had an IPS screen and the replacement doesn't. Is t...

SOLD: X200s with X201s system board/sound card
I discovered that I still had one more of my X200s models that I upgraded to an X201s by replacing the system board and sound card with their X201s equivalents. This is my absolute last one, and, like the others, it's in beautiful condition. If you need to know the basic specs, look up the X201s, be...

Re: FT/FS: X201s (5143-28U) for a larger ThinkPad or $150
Quick information question:
Is Bluetooth actually working on this machine? I could NEVER get Bluetooth working on an X201s after installing an Intel 802.11agn card in it. If you have Bluetooth actually working, could you tell us which Intel card you're using?
Thanks for any info...

Re: What to do if Computrace is activated in your TP BIOS
Have you tried clicking "Computrace" and changing "Enabled" to "Permanently Disabled"? If you can't, then Absolute hasn't deactivated it. Make sure you're online and reboot again. If you can't change it to Permanently Disabled in a day or two, call them back.
