I'm interested, but don't want to insult you with a too-low offer. I'll start my bidding at $1900.

Brad

Yeesh. What aphex is describing is what this guy selling his laptop is also describing. This doesn't seem like what I'd expect from a $2500 laptop!

Anyone experiencing "sticky" keys?

I found a year-old t42p (14"), and the seller commented that some of his keys were "sticky" and had to be pressed harder to make an input. He went on to say that the new keyboards on the t42s were a disappointment, and that some people have had keys pop off completely. Is this true, and common, give...

Would you ship to Minnesota?

I'm very curious about your laptop. Could you please e-mail pics of the screen/keyboard to brbray@hotmail.com.

SolidWorks on Mobility Radeon graphics?

Does anyone have experience running SolidWorks 2004 using the Radeon graphic card? The Fire GL in the T42P is certified by SolidWorks, but it's also more expensive!

It all depends on whether you find the black look "classic" or "stodgy." Precisely because it has had the same look for more than a decade, one could say that IBM's design department is asleep at the wheel. The case color is not what dampens my ardor to buy one of these machines, though: I take issu...

Bill,
How special are these special deals? Would you have any use for a vaio as part of a trade-in plan? Want. New. Toy.

Bill,

In newbie speak, what is the model number you speak of? Is it the FireGL, with a meg of ram, a 60GB HDD, DVD burner, and 15" screen? If so, I will consider keeping those gawdawful logos on there, and perhaps grow to love them!

Brad

Thanks for the input

I definitely am leaning toward the 42P, but the cost is a huge factor.

Considering joining the family

After using Macs and Vaios for years, I need to switch to a mobile workstation in order to run SolidWorks. With the best-offered video cards, the Dell Precision M60 (Nvidia Quadro) and the ThinkPad T42P (ATI Fire) are comparable in price, but I hear that IBM is more solidly built. Plus it has that c...
