W701 WEI
I ran the Windows performance test on my W701. The lowest score is 6.9 for the graphics: Desktop performance for Windows Aero (whatever that is) and 3D business and gaming graphics performance. I have the Quadro FX 3800M. Not that makes a difference but was curious what other people get on that. I w...

Keyboard for W701
Ok decided to give a second chance to Lenovo so ordered another W701 after returning the first one. Shockingly this one was shipped 3 days after placing order despite a 10 business day original estimate. So far so good so "fingers crossed"  One of the things I did not like about the fi...

Re: I almost had a W 701
Hi pianowizard, Everyone seems to get all excited about DC2 on HP. However great the screen looks like (and it does) there are a lot of other issues with HP: - Only 1 HDD drive (unless you give up the DVD drive). A very weird limitation considering the size of this thing. - A lot of issues so far wi...

I almost had a W 701
I ordered a W701 about a month ago. I was pretty excited to see finally a delivery date. Last week I finally got it. As read in a review here the screen part was huge with a lot of plastic around the screen (definitely no design improvements there). Also the keyboard kind of felt a bit flaky (too mu...

Re: W701: detailed first impressions
Hi xiphmont,
I did order my W701.
Good news: I caught the Father's Day sale for another approx $500 discount.
Bad news: I caught another of those "we don't have good screens" gap so delivery date was estimated at end of July
So I guess I have plenty of time to buy some stickers

W701 Configuration Help
Hey guys, I think I finally decided to go for the W701 versus Dell M6500. I was wondering if you can help with couple of decisions. I will be using this mainly for Visual Studio, SQL and couple VPCs run at a time. Ocasional games (might go back to WoW when the next big release is out  ). 1) Pro...

Re: W701: detailed first impressions
@ laptop4me: I am in the exact same boat as you (though I would not go for the Covet version since it is a glossy screen). I do have a Thinkpad T60p so originally Lenovo and W701 was a no brainer but due to the delays in releasing it I had a chance to read up on latest (small) issues with Lenovo so ...

Re: Yet another HDD question
One more question:
It seems newmods US does not make a ultra bay HDD caddy for T60p so does anyone know where can I buy one from?

Yet another HDD question
Hi, I have a T60p. I bought a new HDD for it (that I want to make it the main drive) and was wondering whether I can keep the old drive as a secondary. I did the factory install on the new HDD from recovery discs so now I can boot from either of them. I searched the forum and it seems one way to kee...

Re: After T60/61 what?
I have been going through the same question for the last month too. I have a 15" T60p with 16:10 aspect ratio so I had to stop crying for 4:3 a long time ago ( ). I moved the taskbar to the right and I can live with it as is ... T510 and W510 were the logical next step (since they have the I7 ...

Re: T60p and upgrades
And one more question: what size harddrive am I looking for? Size as in 2.5" and what height to make sure it would fit in.

Re: T60p and upgrades
Intels are probably the best SSDs right now. The bigger drives offer better performance. Anything with the Indillix controller is a good second choice. Keep in mind as the drive fills up, performance degrades. XP will work fine on a SSD. XP doesn't support trim, but that's not a huge deal in my opi...

T60p and upgrades
Hi guys, I have been enjoying my trusty T60p for 3-4 years now but lately felt I needed more RAM and perhaps a faster harddrive. After 2 weeks of reading about the new Lenovos I decided that maybe it is wise to wait a while since nothing is appealing out there right now (do NOT get me started about ...

Re: ThinkPad W701 & W701ds
So I'm back on my T60p, and I must tell all of you who are still on the fence about Solid State Drives, just how HUGE a difference the SSD makes! It just struck me after preparing an emergency "just-in-case" installation of Windows 7 x64 on a hard drive the other day, before I packed up my W700 and...
