For Sale: 256MB RAM (UK)

I'm not sure why anyone would want such a small memory stick, but I have a surplus 256MB, DDR, 333, CL2.5 SODIMM
IBM FRU 31P9831, date: 2004-12-11

Yours for £5 inc. P&P (to UK)

It's always worked perfectly well. I just wanted to upgrade and replaced it with a 1GB stick.

memory replacement

I want to replace the 256MB sodimm under my keyboard with a 1GB stick.
P72 of The Hardware Manual says about the screws:
"Each one should be used only once" &
"Always use new screws"

Is it really that important? And if so, where can one buy plastic coated M2 screws?

Thanks,

Rescue and Recovery

Wecome to my nightmare. RnR 4.1 doesnt work on T41, and I have 42 GB's of a 60GB drive left after a RnR. It's all way too Pathetic! I wish there was way a to kill the useless partitions without having to rebuild this PC, again. Frank, After Johan's reply, do you still think that RnR 4.1 doesn't wor...

Fix for TVTSCHED

I had this fault last year. I've avoided it since by disabling tvtsched.exe . I notice that the T41, T42 & T42P are not included in the supported systems for this fix. Any ideas why not?

Rescue and Recovery

I have RnR 3.1, and I notice there is v4.1 available. It hasn't come up on System Update, and Lenovo don't include the T41 in their list of supported systems. see ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/thinkvantage_en/z503_setup_rnr41_315c.txt They do say: "This version of Rescue and Recovery may also...

tvtsched.exe

I've also had horrendous problems with tvtsched.exe. I thought I must be infected with a virus or malware, and went through all the exhaustive steps to clean them, because when I ran Task Manager, the performance window only showed the processes which show up in the green not in red. I first got the...

Wireless and Fn+F5 problem

I had not used my wireless connection for some time, so I don't know when the problem started, but when I wanted to turn it on yesterday, Fn+F5 wouldn't do it; it just toggles the bluetooth icon on and off. I connected wirelessly by opening Access Connections (v4.41) via Start, but now the green wir...

I have a T41, and as has been described above, Battery Maximiser does not include the "Improve Battery Health" option. I do have access to a T42 which does include this option. Education discounts in UK?

I am not sure if this is the right place to post, but I remember seeing mentioned that IBM used to give education discounts to buyers, and I am wondering if Lenovo do the same.

I am in the UK, and my son is starting university next month, which is why I am asking.

Thanks for any information.

RnR

RnR isn't very flexible, but having said that I still use it. I make backups onto an external drive only. I think that the only way to stop it making a copy onto your hard drive as well is to delete all your backups and start again, setting it to back up onto the external drive only. If you make you...

Why does RnR want to access the internet?

I have Rescue n Recovery 3.0. Whenever I run a backup, I get the messaage from my firewall that r2r.exe is trying to access the internet. I deny access, and the backup proceeds happily anyway. Why does it want to do this? And am I missing out on anything by not letting it do it?

I think that confusion arises from thinking about the hidden bit as a partition rather than a hidden folder. It is still part of the C drive in fact.

Believe me, for I learned the hard way.

I can confirm what GomJabbar says.

With RnR all data on the HDD is deleted. It can be restored if you used RnR to make a backup to e.g. an external USB drive.
