Re: T480 will not power on
Thanks for the suggestion. No, I don't have access to another laptop (at the moment) that uses that same charger (USB C). I did, however, try to connect a power bank with a USB C cable to the laptop, and nothing lit up. We are "on the road" at the moment, so I may have to wait until we get home on F...

T480 will not power on
This T480 laptop (use by my wife) has been working perfectly for almost one year. Suddenly, it will not power on. When I attach the charger I do not see "three blinks" in the logo, nor do I see a "power charge amber light." I've tried removing the battery and un-plugging the charge clicking the powe...

Re: Can you install a msata 2242 ssd into a P52 WWAN slot?
I received and installed a 480GB MyDigitalSSD SBX NVMe SSD today, and it works fine. It looks like it is running slower than expected, but for my purposes (data storage) that's not an issue. Thanks!

Can you install a msata 2242 ssd into a P52 WWAN slot?
I'm configuring my new P52 ThinkPad with multiple drives, including a 2.5" 4TB Samsung 860 Pro, a 1TB Samsung 970 Pro M.2 NVMe and a 2TB Samsung 860 EVO M.2 NVMe. Just for fun I thought that I would install a 1TB Samsung 860 EVO m.2 2242 msata SSD into the WWAN slot. I purchased that drive, but it d...

Re: Problem installing a 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD - incorrect bytes recognized
In talking with a Samsung rep, I was told to download/install Samsung Magician. Once installed it immediately recognized the chip on the installed SSD drive as a Samsung 960 EVO 250GB. So apparently the label on the drive which says 970 EVO 2TB is incorrect (or was tampered with). So it goes!

Problem installing a 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD - incorrect bytes recognized
I just purchased a P52 ThinkPad to replace my P50 (which has served me well). The new laptop came with a i7-8850H, 16GB RAM and a 500GB 2.5" hard drive. My plan is to install 3 (or maybe 4) SSDs and upgrade memory to 128GB RAM. This is my dream computer that I want to take to the max! I began by ins...

Will a 77++ battery fit a Lenovo P50
Will a 77++ battery fit a Lenovo P50? I'm seeing contradictory information on the Internet. Some eBay sellers say that a 77++ will work with the P50, P51 and P52. Other sources say that the 77++ is designed to only fit the P52. Can anyone clarify for me? I need to replace my P50 battery (which is us...

So it goes.

X230 and playing Fortnite?
My grandson, who is 9 years old, is asking his parents for a laptop for Christmas so that he can play the game Fortnite. His parents want him to have something that can also be used for school work and that will be portable to carry to/from school. My question is whether a Lenovo X230 (or similar si...

external hard drive using P50 usb-c port
I've been using a Seagate Backup Plus Slim 2TB Portable External Hard Drive USB 3.0 to backup my P50 internal hard drives while traveling. It works fine and I can continue that option. I'm wondering, however, if there is a comparable (and slim) USB-C external hard drive that could take advantage of ...

Re: T430 ASDF JKL; keys not working
Thanks. I inspected the connector and it looks fine. I've cleaned and blew air on it. As you say, since the problem persists with two keyboards, it looks like this is a motherboard problem. The eBay seller has accepted to let me return the item for reimbursement.

Yes, but no luck. He/She says that the laptop came without guarantees. However, do you think that this might be a situation to elevate the case to eBay for a reimbursement?

Locked Bios T560 - How to unlock?
I recently purchased a used T560 on eBay from a seller who said that they were selling their old laptop in order to upgrade. X270 hangs freezes at Lenovo screen when rebooting
I have a friend with a Lenovo Thinkpad X270 i7-7600U, 16GB, 512GB SSD. It has been periodically generating BSOD error messages like "Critical Process Died" and "stop code 0xc000021a". So, I'm trying to troubleshoot it for him. The laptop is still under warranty. However, this "feels" like a software...

Re: Display Problem with T530 Thinkpad
If you have only integrated graphics, replace the CPU. If you have Discrete+Integrated (Optimus) graphics, try switching (in BIOS) to Integrated only. If still not OK, then you need a new motherboard. This T530 is model 2392-42U which has integrated graphics only. How easy (and expensive) would it ...

I'm more convinced of that being a graphics card issue, not a LCD issue. An LCD issue would be of a very regular pattern and defined colors. Reading Extended Density (ED) 2.88MB floppy disks from a ThinkPad 750Cs
My ThinkPad 750Cs came with a floppy disk for reading Extended Density (ED) 2.88MB floppy disks. That laptop retired/died peacefully many years ago. Recently I came across a stash of ED floppy disks that may (or may not) have some interesting material stored on them. But how do I read them today? My...
