Re: ThinkPad W510 hackintosh
So, I finally got Snow Leopard MBR to install correctly on my w510. I grabbed all the kexts from the Empire EFI disc, and the mach_kernel from Empire EFI disc (without this, my w510 reboots) to finally get it to install. Now that I have it installed, I have a working keyboard, tracpad and webcam... ...

Re: ThinkPad W510 hackintosh
I know, I have a custom Chameleon 256MB USB stick and a custom 8 GB stick with the 10.6 DVD image restored and modified for GPT. I know for a fact that my modified USB installer works because I used it on my brothers laptop. The problem is that my chameleon stick must not have the right kexts or DSD...

Re: ThinkPad W510 hackintosh
Any updates on a method that will work with the w510? My problem is that the EFI disk I used only works with discs and my disc is a retail disc (aka not modified for mbr partitions). My usb chameleon stick reboots when trying to boot from my modified usb installation disc. I am assuming this is beca...

Re: ThinkPad W510 hackintosh
Yeah, Yong, if you could please post your DSDT and list all the kexts and special steps needed to get Snow Leopard running, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Re: ThinkPad W510 hackintosh
Yeah, I copied fakesmc.kext to /Extra/Extensions, and deleted my .mkext to make sure it would be recognized. I also have AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext, AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext, ApplePS2Controller.kext, EvOreboot.kext, fakesmc.kext, IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext, IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext, IOATAFamily....

Re: ThinkPad W510 hackintosh
Thanks for the tip, but I am still having a lot of difficulty getting Snow Leopard installed on MBR. I assume there is no way to use the retail SL disc and copy the files over once the installer is booted? I was able to copy the disc to USB, but when I try to boot, I get a message stating that the I...

Re: ThinkPad W510 hackintosh
I got Snow Leopard Vanilla installed on my w510 by using an Empire EFI boot disc and then inserting a retail copy of SL. The install went fine and I was able to boot into Snow Leopard minus network (wireless and wired with the exception of Bluetooth) support and minus USB 3.0 support. I tried instal...
