Re: Who here has an x131e Intel Core-i3 model?
I just got mine.. order it with a 500gb hd and swap to a samsung 840pro ssd.. Pretty nice so far. The only thing is lack of led status.. ie caps lock, etc, still exploring the unit.. its not bad. Hope you enjoy it - I'm pretty happy with mine so far; the SSD definitely sped it up (interesting you c...

Re: Will future Haswell Thinkpads all use Windows 8/Touchscreen?
I was an IBM mainframe programmer before I retired, and did website development as a hobby on the side. Used Assembler, Cobol, Fortran, RPG II, SQL/DB2 and other IBM stuff on the mainframe, and Basic, PL/1, C, C++, Pascal, Python, PHP, Javascript, CSS, HTML, etc. on the PC/laptop. All I ever needed...

Re: Will future Haswell Thinkpads all use Windows 8/Touchscreen?
It's really anyone's guess. However, if I had to put forth a guess, I'd say that they'd be Windows 8 and touch screens on the mid to upper models and non-touch with touch screen option on low end machines. But that and a $1 will get you a sweet tea at McDonald's right now (sans tax  ). Wha...

Hey folks...
DaKKS' forum post had the earliest timestamp of forum posts and PMs, so I'm sending the computer to him.
I'll let folks know if he changes his mind, but otherwise it's no longer available. Didn't realize so many people would want one!

Slightly broken x120e, for free if you'll pay shipping
I accidentally stepped on my x120e (it was next to my bed), and broke something related to the display. It still boots, but the screen is barely readable - all kinds of fun lines, colors and distortions. Either the LCD is broken (no visible cracks or anything, however), or the connector to it is; ei...

I decided it was probably not worth trying to fix, so got an x131e to replace it.Neil wrote:My best guess would be that an internal layer of the LCD panel is cracked.
I'll see if someone here would like the x120e for free.

Yes I have found the same thing. Of course it is targeted toward K-12 education. It is essentially a netbook, howbeit a very nice netbook indeed. Well, I bought it and received it. Bit heavier and clunkier than I like, but since this one will be next to my bed, it should resist getting squashed lik...

What the *beep* is going on with Lenovo's website/ordering?
I ordered a Thinkpad x131e a few weeks ago. Back then, there were all kinds of weird things going on with their website - it was alternately up and down for several days. Lenovo couldn't get order status (I couldn't, on their website, and Lenovo Customer Service couldn't, either). Since then, I've w...

Re: Who here has an x131e Intel Core-i3 model?
I have an x131e with a Celeron, SSD and 4GB and it boots incredibly fast on Windows 8. I've been using it for my basic everyday tasks without problem. Thanks much! I'm surprised, looking around, for reviews of this model or people talking about owning one, and have found very few; I wonder if it's ...

Who here has an x131e Intel Core-i3 model?
My x120e went on the blink after I accidentally stepped on it (screen appears to have been messed up), and I'm looking for a replacement. I was thinking of either a tablet, or just the x131e, since I sometimes do work that requires a teensy bit of power (but not too much) where I use this machine (i...

Will future Haswell Thinkpads all use Windows 8/Touchscreen?
Just a question - do you suppose that when Lenovo comes out in the fall with their new Haswell lineup, they will ALL be touchscreen devices running Windows 8? Or do you think Lenovo will keep a few of them non-touchscreen and running Windows 7? I'm a software developer, and really don't enjoy having...

Accidentally stepped on my x120e - screen now bizarre...
Hey folks... The other night, getting out of bed, I accidentally stepped on the top of my closed Thinkpad x120e. I had knocked it around before without ill effect, but today, when I turned it on after this incident, the screen was... well, "psychedelic" is the best way to describe it. It was flicker...

Re: Proper order for clean install of Windows 7 x64?
Bit torrent. I wish MS made it easier to slipstream like it was with XP. Ahhh. Yeah, I have been lucky and not got many viruses or malware with torrents, but I don't want to take any chances these days. I do wish MS provided DVDs with SP1 already applied, free to licensed users. I have found OEM co...

I typically trust MS update. Having said that I also downloaded Win 7 64 media with SP1 then use my existing license. Just curious, but where did you download it from? I see SP1 available as an update and an ISO, but I don't see Win7 x64 WITH SP1 already in it. And did it cost you anything? - Tim

Proper order for clean install of Windows 7 x64?
Hi all... I've done tons of clean installs of Windows 7 x64, and finally am upgrading my T400 (from XP Pro). I did a clean install of Windows 7 x64 from Microsoft installation media (this is pre-SP1). Worked fine. Then installed all the Thinkpad drivers and software, which also went well. When it ca...

Re: MAX RAM in the T400/T500? 4GB or more?
I was wondering this too. I got on crucial.com, and its "scanner" told me that I could put 8gb in it. Not that they know EVERYTHING, but they usually seem to be correct. I ordered it. It is faster memory, I believe, but it should step down automatically for the T400 (crossing fingers).

Re: An X230 with 1920x1080 resolution - pipe dream?
Running Windows at non-native DPI is a solution I'd like to avoid. It works okay, but the quirks here and there throw me off. :? Apple has done a good job, IMO, with regard to the implementation of the Retina Macbooks, but then it's simpler when the new res is 2x of the old one, and one controls bo...

Have you maximized the speed of the mouse pointer? If not, try that. Ever since I learned that trick (plus spending about 3 months learning to master the touchpad), I have preferred the touchpad over the trackpoint. I feel sorry for those who are holding on to their Thinkpads simply because they do...

Considering Asus is delivering an 11.6" 1080p Zenbook, and Intel's Retina-display advisory, one would assume Beijing is not completely asleep at the wheel. Unfortunately, this still won't address the 4:3 issue. Do you mean the lack of 4:3 displays out in the market? I am about to give someone my ol...

An X230 with 1920x1080 resolution - pipe dream?
Hey folks... I've used exclusively Thinkpads as my laptop of choice for years. But for the first time, I've had to go elsewhere for a laptop. I can't remember where I read it, but I believe there's a setting somewhere that sets a given X feature, and it needs to be turned off, that will cure that problem. Either that or a module that should not be loaded. Keep your Googling, there is an answer to it (I just can't remember what it was). - ...
