Re: Cient Security Solution -- Pros/Cons? Use or uninstall?

Did you uninstall the Client Security Solution? Windows 7 has it's own mechanism for handling log on using a fingerprint reader? I could swear I had the FPR working on one of my T60s that had the CSS uninstalled, don't remember having to do anything special to do it. Maybe it was set up kind of sea...

Re: My T60 display is too dim - options ?

Thank you all for helping. Also, you were right - changed settings in BIOS from normal to brightness and it is much better now (despite battery life but it is understandable). Hi - that is just the default setting. If you have installed the ThinkPad HotKeys driver, then you can use the Fn key combi...

Re: How easy is it to replace the T60 fan?

The machine has never been this quiet since I unboxed it. HHmm.. Even when the old fan was new, any chance the fan had a faint high pitched whine most of the time, with like a pulse every 5 seconds? Did this go away with the new fan too? Mine still does that and it appears to be a fairly common iss...

Advice and Tips on Docks, Monitors, and Fans?

Hi All, and Happy New Year! Just today getting to test out one of my xmas presents from my Mrs. - an advanced mini-dock for my t60. The Advanced Mini-Dock (or perhaps port replicator) Spec says "Supports two external monitors, 1 via VGA and 1 via DVI" - this appears to work flawlessly, as does the M...

Re: T60 T61 fan lubrication - illustrated guide by msb0b inside

Update: The machine oil was drying out in about 4 months. I first performed this procedure in January, 2010, reapplied the lubricant in June, and now it dried out again. This time I am trying white lithium grease and hope it will last longer. Initially I was worried that the grease is too viscus to...

Re: Funny 4 GB experiment on Z61p [T60-series].

On the other hand, I'll keep the 1GB Ramdisk/Pagefile setting. It works absolutely flawlessly. I'd perhaps lower the darn thing to 512MB, to have some more free usable RAM. How is this any different than not using any RAMDisk/Pagefile, and setting the Pagefile size to zero? You get 3GB usable total...

Re: SATA-II BIOS patch for T61/T61p and X61/X61s (X61t coming)

Is there a chance we will ever see SATA-II on a regular T60?

Is it a hardware difference between the T60 and T61, where T61 has the capability (but wasn't enabled in the BIOS) but T60 does not have the ability at all?

Re: boot issue and wireless turns off

Hi, I cannot comment on the ROM bootup messages you are receiving, but for this comment... randomly the wirless antenna turns off (the light on the dislplay goes dark) and I loose the wireless link. I must reboot to make it work Try this: Go into power management for the wireless LAN device (you'll ...

Dreaded T60 Fan High Pitch Whine

So, my T60 SSD/3GB-Ram/Win7 upgrades rock! I have read many forum posts regarding a high pitch whine noise on the T60s and potential causes. For mine, I am convinced it is related to the fan. Battery charging or CPU power management options make no difference. Fan off - no high pitch whine. The fan ...

Re: Purchased a used t60 and I think I have problems.

Hi bass1175, The problem with using zoom in browsers and office apps is that it doesn't affect the base software navigation and options (only the document content) or other applications. I was playing with this last night on my T60 - Agreed that the native resolution on the SXGA+ is a bit hard to re...

Re: T60 Fan Replacement

I went through similar ordeal last week, the fan would make noise and sometimes the computer would refuse to boot with a "Fan Error" message. I decided to repair the fan instead of replacing it. All it took was some careful working and one drop of machine oil. Here is the writeup and pictures of th...
