Re: How update BIOS in Linux? ** Important, please help out, thanks! **
Ok I'll try it later just to check. What I remember is that it seemed like this is an Ultra Special packing of the ISO contents, so that the usual range of USB boot tools wouldn't work..!

Re: How update BIOS in Linux? ** Important, please help out, thanks! **
Ah - I have laptop and USB memory stick only! So my clarified Q is: How do I write the ISO to an USB stick so that it's bootable and all works, from Linux? (If I recall right, I tried a Bunch of tools on Windows to make a bootable USB disk based on the ISO, and they all failed, maybe like 4 tools.) ...

Re: maximal resolution of internal mini hdmi port
2560x1440px should be perfectly fine at 60-100Hz I think.
4K should work too, at 24hz or 30hz, don't remember.
This stuff is specified for the CPU, so look up the CPU on Intel's website - and do the public a service by then posting the URL you find as response to this thread!

How update BIOS in Linux? ** Important, please help out, thanks! **
Hi everyone, How do you update the BIOS from Linux on the Thinkpad S1 Yoga? This is a pretty important matter. I'm quite confident it can be done, but since it's not documented anywhere, I can't figure out Exactly how to do it. How do you do this? Or, what's your best idea of how this should be done...

Your bag is like mine, there is the problem with it also.
I succeeded with keeping a display not broken for 3 months now, by putting a sheet of cardboard between the display and keyboard when shut, and generally being extremely careful not to push the bag ever.

OMG - but wait, the X1 Carbon (2015) does *NOT* use a SATA interface, does it? I'm quite clear I read benchmarks showing ~1400MB/sec throughput, whereas SATA 3's upper practical limit is ~600MB/sec, no?

North India. (I think I wouldn't call it 'human rights' but 'culture'. Rape laws are superhard though. It's in the culture to sell people though, a bank doing damage recovery instructed their collectors to "sell everything in the house including family members" in 2013.) Omg! Thanks for all your reflections. Hi! A woman who's a student here needs a Thinkpad, something modern-enough, budget ~$200. Like ~Full HD (1920x1080) would be great, and 720p webcam & maybe HDMI/DP would be a bonus. Performance, RAM, disk space completely unimportant I guess. This is in Delhi-India but maybe we can get it here some ...

Safety level is 1 milligauss. Someone measured laptop keyboards to emit 50mg. Would be interested to know what the Thinkpads with magnesium chassis on lower end and keyboard score. Thinkpad Yoga not suitable for travel: 2:nd broken screen in 2 months
My new screen got a tiiny crack just 3 weeks after I got it, from a transitory and not heavy push toward the laptop's middle, but that was no problem as it was almost invisible. Now, I had with me the laptop on 5 days' travel, as usual in the Neoprene case, and on the 4:th day, just like before my p...

Thinkpad charger precautions for third world countries! XXX
In 3 weeks in India, I burnt no less than three electricity chargers. Noone informed me in the past that the third world suffers of voltage swings and so called "electricity surcharges" (I think they're called), that instantly fry your charger. The solution is buying a voltage filter and surcharge p...

rkawakami, thanks.
Apparently the AC adapter was fried, from voltage fluctuations in this Indian power system.
So apparently you always need an external voltage stabilizer when you're in the third world.

Any USB adapter for the PCIe?
Hi!
If travelling and something bad would happen to laptop, it would be incredibly good to be able to have the correspondent of a SATA to USB cable, for the PCIe SSD in the X1 Carbon 2015.'
Does that exist? How do you do this?'
Thanks

600x, it seems that my focal torturing the Thinkpad Yoga had a relatively speaking worse effect than the asphalt - By, I suppose, squeezing particular areas of the outer cover under which the screen are, or, I guess applying pressure from the top while also applying pressure to the side, so that the...
