It seems the fuses really were the problem. Replacing both the 'P' (F7) and 'F' fuse did the trick and brought back the LED's and backlight. Welcome to the forum. Your problem IS the nVidia graphics card. T61 models are notorious for this. It's caused by a badly engineered graphics chip, inside of which some layers become unstuck.
