Re: What has Lenovo Done to the TP Keyboard, and WHY!!??

Lenovo made this change in reaction to the success of the ThinkPad X1, which was released in 2011 (as the first Classic model with the new keyboard style). There were many positive reactions to the new keyboard, so they decided to bring the dsame style to all models. lol, no. They made the change i...

Re: Rant about 16:9, and maybe switching back to X60t from T520

"Resolutionary" "The new iPad" http://www.apple.com/ipad/ The Retina display on the new iPad features a 2048-by-1536 resolution, 44 percent greater color saturation, and an astounding 3.1 million pixels — in the same 9.7-inch space. That’s four times the number of pixels in iPad 2 and a million more...

Re: Rant about 16:9, and maybe switching back to X60t from T520

On another note, I'm a resolution addict, but QXGA on a 10"...that is a non-starter for a 99.9% of the population. Most people couldn't take it on a 15" (4:3) ThinkPad... The difference being that iOS is "resolution independent" or whatever the technical term is. Each app icon is "finger sized" reg...

Re: Rant about 16:9, and maybe switching back to X60t from T520

Next week, Apple is going to announce the iPad 3. It has a 4:3 screen. 2048x1536 resolution. 9.7 inch (diagonal) display size. http://arstechnica.com/apple/news/2012/03/ipads-using-ios-6-high-res-displays-showing-up-in-ars-server-logs.ars Absolutely insane that Apple will release a 4:3 display of th...

Re: Cardbus SDHC reader for T60P - SOLVED

Can you post pics of what this device looks like in your ThinkPad?

I'm looking for an SD Card reader to fill the slot in my T60... I think it has 2 card slots though? Are there any two cards that sandwich together well there, flush with the case edge and completely filling the hole?

Yeah it is. It's actually different (though obviously very similar) from the one in the T60 pic above. Does anyone have an alternate version? Really looking for a high-res option.

So it's kinda like that thing where there's no federally-mandated drinking age at 21... but if your state goes to 18, you miss out on billions of dollars in highway money.

Re: Install a new-model "big delete key" keyboard in a T60?

I believe they're mandated by Microsoft. Asus, going for the Mac look, had to put them on their power brick. Although I suppose they're talking about the Windows license sticker on the bottom of ThinkPads, not the little stickers inside. In our earlier coverage I pointed out that ASUS had moved Micr...

Re: Install a new-model "big delete key" keyboard in a T60?

They need to get rid of all the Lenovo branding on the Thinkpads. I can't believe the lid logo is back on the new ones, they had it there for a while then took it off, I thought it would be gone for good...

Same goes for the trackpoint buttons, by the way. Why are they so square and colorless in the T60?

Any red/blue colored and/or curvy buttons that can swap in?

Install a new-model "big delete key" keyboard in a T60?

I love what ThinkPad has done with their keyboards in new models, making the delete key, escape key, etc. bigger. The frequently-used keys are way easier to hit. Sure would like to have one in my T60... Were any T60-swappable "big delete key" keyboards ever produced? In which ThinkPad models? Parts ...

How do you remove the palm-rest/bezel from the USB keyboard? I removed the screws on the bottom and all the keys, but it seems stuck... is there a clip somewhere inside that you need to disengage?

Re: The iPad has a 4:3 screen resolution. What gives, Thinkpad?

Did you see the URL I provided above? Both LG and Samsung have made tablet panels with super high pixel densities. At least one of these panels has been confirmed to be 2560x1600. Even if the iPad won't be using one of these, some other tablets will. Why is it so hard to believe that the iPad res w...

A iPad with a doubled 4:3 resolution will be coming out in September, spring, or next September. Think what you wish, but it's 2 months to just over a year until that resolution doubles.

So, yeah. "Likely."

Re: The iPad has a 4:3 screen resolution. What gives, Thinkpad?

Since Apple isn't making 4:3 laptops, your agument fails entirely  That only supports my argument, really. Apple puts widescreen displays in their laptops because widescreen laptops are good for widescreen movies, beautiful demos at the Apple store, etc. It's a great screen for a consumer lapt...

Re: The iPad has a 4:3 screen resolution. What gives, Thinkpad?

While 4:3 might be nice given a decent resolution, it doesn't hurt to have 16:10 which preserves the vertical pixel amount. I would be much more concerned about the absence of Flexview display options. Said that, i finally finished my T61+ project: I placed a T61 mainboard with Intel GPU into a 15"...

The iPad has a 4:3 screen resolution. What gives, Thinkpad?

The iPad has a 4:3 resolution. This resolution wasn't chosen because the screens were "easy to source" or "the industry is going through a display ratio change". The resolution was chosen because Apple designers think 4:3 is the *absolute best* resolution for holding in your hand, and thus that's wh...

Getting to know my new x60.

Hi all, just picked up a x60. I have a x30 which I love, but picked this one up cheap (it has a splotchy screen) in order to run Win7's Aero, potentially install the higher res display, and install an SSD. I have a couple questions, mainly related to build differences between it and the x30: What is...

I'm thinking of picking one up of craigslist, as an ultraportable used mainly for coding and web surfing. 1.6 GHz Pentium M processor 2GB RAM 70GB 7200RPM HDD (I'd probably replace this with a small SSD) I'll be running Visual Studio, Chrome, and Dropbox. Hi, I just saw a Japanese (I think?) ThinkPad keyboard. http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/517/dotmouse.jpg It's awesome. I really want to try out that tiny spacebar and extra hotkeys.
