Anyone make new CTRL and FN keys so they are in the proper locations?

Seems like a good market with all the Thinkpads out there. I did the BIOS swap, but it would be nice to have the keys labelled right.

Anyone know of a source to get these?

Anyone get Goat Simulator to work? T7200/X1400/2GB /Win7 32

I have a T60, with a T7200 and a x1400. It's got 2GB and Windows 7 32bit.

Goat Simulator will not load. It gives the popular goatgame-win32-shipping.exe has stopped responding.

My graphics crash from 1400x1050 to 1024x768 so I think its a graphics drive issue.

Anyone have a solution?

Thanks

Re: Buying replacement screen on eBay

$180 shipped is a high price for a parts only T60 IMHO, good screen or not. Like I mentioned if you are in for $180 for the screen chances are you can sell your current T60 and use that extra cash to move up a series. I should have done that, didn't know the market off the bat. My T60 was never open...

Re: Buying replacement screen on eBay

Most will sell a SVGA screen separately or it will push the cost of the 'parts only' machine up in price. If one just needs a standard resolution replacement then buying a parts only laptop could be very economical. However, I have yet to see a laptop being sold for parts that has a truly pristine s...

Re: Buying replacement screen on eBay

Seems like nothing good comes out of trying to replace poor original with 'compatible' one. How is the picture quality, anyway? picture quality is perfect. Nothing dead or stuck. I really can't complain other than I wish I knew the issue up front. Still better than a $300 replacement. At that point...

Re: Upgrade my wifi adapter in my T60p. Choices?

Can our T60s utilize the "Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN" card on the new W series? I'm looking to get a card that has more range and better connectivity. My T60 currently has the Atheros AR 5008 a/b/g/n but at my school, everyone can get on the Wifi while mine is super slow and laggy. I'm not ...

Re: Buying replacement screen on eBay

I picked up one from one of the more popular sellers (I can't remember his ebay name off the top of my head, if you search my posts here you will find it). The main problem is that it is not the same as the original LCD as far as EDID info. You have to deal with anything other than native screen res...

My brother's wife has one on a newer thinkpad (T500 I believe).

It was very noticeable.

I am about to install a 500GB on a client's Inspiron 1521 tomorrow.

I just wish I knew where it came from. I am ok with the model number I picked. It seems like the best match. The T60's with built-in Wireless N seemed to have a different chipset ("P" version).

Re: Sharp SHP139A SXGA screen...at boot sometimes little glitch

The seller told me he's never had anyone request these other resolutions and it's normal for the LCD to resize at others.

I know my XGA screen would be border to border at less than 1024x768 and I could use HV expansion in the BIOS.

Do the SXGA screens really normally not have the extra timings set?

Re: Sharp SHP139A SXGA screen...at boot sometimes little glitch

The work-around would either involve cutting a connection to the EEPROM to disable the write protection. Alternatively it would be possible to unsolder it completely and mount it into a DIY I2C programmer, such as http://www.lancos.com/e2p/easyI2Cbus.gif But this is really the seller's fault - the ...

Re: Sharp SHP139A SXGA screen...at boot sometimes little glitch

Hi again, Hmm - are you certain that the EEPROM it is trying to access is not by any chance that of your external monitor? When you're in the "Monitor Information" part of Powerstrip and select "Update EDID" from the drop-down box, try selecting "No" to let it scan for available connected screens. ...

Re: A CMOS Battery Quiz! *PIC* (45KB)

The 'motherboard connector' can be swapped or removed..the pin spacings AFAIK are the same, it's just the male / female plastic parts that differ. Still on eBay (and I have had really good luck for a decade+ for almost everything else), thinkpad items are problematic. If you search T60 SXGA LCD cabl...

I snagged a N card from 24okbuy on ebay (IBM Atheros AR5BXB72 ar5008 42t0825 T61 X61 T61p card is the title). It was $47.99. I picked up the third antenna from ACS parts online for $20. Re: Are you guys satisfied with your T60?

I work in IT. My wife has a Macbook Pro 13" which is really nice. I don't need a major laptop...I have a powerful desktop already. That said I had a 14.1" T60 fall into my lap. Just a FYI for those looking to buy Powerstrip. It's not an instant purchase as most know, but now they have locked out EDID programming unless you request a PIN (which is another 12-48 hour delay)... To get the PIN you need to send you pstrip.ini file, to get this easily go to Options->Preferences ...

In another thread you asked whether you could flash the Sharp LCD with another EDID from a 14.1" SXGA+.... the answer is "don't". There may be slightly different standard timings required between models. Can you post the EDID of the Sharp LCD you've got now? SHP139A seems to be the name that someon...

It will only work with HW exp. set to off because the EDID doesn't contain standard timings for anything else than 1400x1050. With HW exp. set to off, the monitor will always operate at it's native resolution. I can try making a new and working EDID for you... but you'll need a registered version o...

That's the problem...they say it's not needed. What number is it so I can just have them do it. First service center wanted $300 to do this. It took calling another half dozen to find sometime that was willing to do this, but I don't know if they really know what they are doing. They are cheap though.

System Update 4 is what I have. It reads the System Unit Serial Number from the registry. The work around is to edit the registry each time or have the BIOS set. Otherwise you get an error message saying your model is invalid (mine was coming up TP_74 or something, now it comes up with that BIOS ent...
