Did you ever end up figuring out if this was a cable problem? I want to put a 1600x900 in mine sooner or later. edit I'm planning to do this to my T420 and saw this. Hello all,

I am considering buying a X120e to bring with me on trips, especially since these machines have dropped prices now around $400. I am just concerned about the fan noise and heat issues. To the people who have used this new model, could you please provide feedback

Try running Access Connections http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/migr-4zlnjb.html Pay particular attention to the "Software and Device Driver requirements" I spent several hours trying this, still no luck. I am going to reformat the machine, perform a clean install of Windows XP and re-ins...

Re: T40 wireless drops when AC power is connected, disconnected

Somewhere in the options of the wifi card, you can UNtick something that looks like: "Allow this device to be switched off to conserve energy/power" I already looked for that, not available. There is nowhere to be found that option for the power saver mode. I can see that option for the wired ether...

Does anybody have a solution for this problem? I have the exact same problem. Everytime I plug or unplug the AC power, I loose the wireless connection, I need to do a right-click + repair to restore the connection. So far, I have tried this but still no luck: - installed ACPI Power manager - install...

Anyone sucessful with Ubuntu 10.10 on a T42?

I installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my T42, all the hardware seems to work except for the ATI 7500 graphics. I can't play a DVD full screen without hicups. I have read that this is because by default, the graphics card is only running at 1X in AGP mode. With previous versions, one could edit the xorg.conf f...

T60 XGA to SXGA+ screen upgrade question

I have a 14.1'' T60 (type 1951-4MU) with the XGA screen and want to upgrade to a higher resolution. Which screen should I get? I saw on ebay the SXGA+ screen a couple listings for about $100-$125 from Hong Kong. Should I get that? Also, is the video connector the same as for my current XGA screen? t...

I solved my problem: I took the machine apart and found out that one of the pin on the PCMCIA receptable slot was slightly pushed back and therefore not making good contact. It was just a matter of pushing it forward and now the slot works fine

I can confirm that on my T60 1951-4MU that running the computer without the battery will make the CPU fixed at 998 MHz using a 65W power supply.

I do not have a 90W power supply so I can't comment on the rest

Is-it true:2 smaller RAM is better than a single Larger one?

I have read somewhere that using 2 identical smaller RAM module is better than using a single large one? My T60 currently has 2x512mb modules. I have an extra 1GB module. What would be the best thing to do? (I am running XP) 1- leave as is: 2x512MB 2- 1 GB in slot1 and 512MB in slot 2 3- 1 GB alone ...

My T60 1951-4mu has the 14.1 XGA screen. I have a spare 14.1 SXGA+ from an old T40. I want to take them apart and swap the LCD pannel itself.

Do you think it might work?

Try plugging some other kind of PCMCIA card into the slot, like a USB hub. Was there a driver for the Wifi card? Perhaps you're supposed to install the driver first, then plug in the card when it asks you to. I've seen that process on some add-ons. I tried installing the driver first that came with...

My 60 GB stock drive is becoming too small. Is-that just a matter of putting any 2.5'' SATA laptop hard drive and use the OEM XP installation disk?

The stock drive is 7200rpm, most common 2.5'' sata drive are 5400rpm, will it have a significant speed penalty if I am using 5400rpm?
