If your ThinkPad is still under warranty I would make the call. There is nothing more frustrating than random shutdowns and losing hard earned work.

The P53/P73 has the GPU integrated to the board so it may be more difficult to replace. The LCD part number is the 04W1544 which is what is called the FRU (field replacement unit).
I would only use the genuine Lenovo part and not a so called compatible part.

You could try the new SSD in the enclosure.
If you haven't already I would have a working backup just in case.

Re: Expanding storage and RAM in P1 Thinkpad
Yes, that is what I am suggesting. You may get a surprise too when making the call (800.426.7378) or requesting service online (www.lenovo.com/mtsa). Within the last couple of weeks there have been what tech support is calling IT issues at their repair depot and they are offering an upgrade to onsit...

Re: Thinkpad P51 & P71- motherboard upgrade?
I haven't pushed anything substantial with this new setup. Mainly only recovering the system to a new SSD and the many Lenovo and MS updates.
This P71 came with the 01AV344 but I installed a brand new 01AV344 for good measure. You probably don't want to have to replace it down the road.

Re: Thinkpad P51 & P71- motherboard upgrade?
The GPU is the FRU I referenced and its a separate PCB. The upgrade was a success. Like normal, with any ThinkPad new motherboard replacement, the model type and serial number have to be added. If they are not added there will be errors at startup. After that was complete I restored the system from ...

Re: Thinkpad P51 & P71- motherboard upgrade?
The GPU is on a card so just the GPU can be replaced without replacing the motherboard. I just replaced a P71 motherboard recently. This one had the GPU FRU 01AV353 nVidia Quadro P5000. There were only an additional handful of screws that need to be removed to replace the motherboard as opposed to j...

Re: T480 how to see BIOS setup
Have you tried holding down the shift key and then shutting down? In W10 that will turn off the rapid start feature on next start and allow access to boot functions. I notice on ThinkPads running W10 that on shutdown the power light will flash just before turn off. Then on next startup no matter wha...

Re: T480 and 64GB ram (2x32GB SODIMMs)
Back a generation to the T470s I use with one available slot and 4Gb on board is working with 36Gb with a 32Gb slotted. Remember the '90's when 1Mb was about $40? At that cost can anyone figure out how much 32Gb would be worth? Too many zeros for me.... Its like buying Amazon for $3 and change.... B...

Recently had a similar issue with a W530. Like RBS said I disabled the trackpad in the BIOS and only used the trackpoint. There was no longer an issue. When I replaced the keyboard though for an issue with one or two of the keys then re-enabled the trackpad in the BIOS just for the heck of it there ...

Re: X61 stripped mPCIe screws
I worked with Edward (OP on linked topic) back in 2010 to remove the wifi card in his X61 using this. Back in 2010 I paid $19.99. More today but worth it for this issue.
The screws are soft aluminum with a very shallow head that is very easy to strip as you found out.
Worked nicely.

On a T430 holding the Fn button and tapping the space bar toggles backlight and then Thinklight.
