Re: New lcd with strange stuck pixel issue
Okay, this is quite stupid, but the lcd had a thin protective film on it with those "stuck pixels" which I didn't notice. Now everything is fine

New lcd with strange stuck pixel issue
Just got new IPS lcd from Ebay for X220, and something odd is going on with it:
http://imgur.com/aWQGg68
Is this panel intentionally ruined by the factory, or why those pixels stuck red form a pattern?

Are newer HP's Elitebooks any good what comes to durability/build quality?

Re: X220 dies when resuming from sleep
No, occasionally. It resumes from sleep normally actually, but after 6-12 seconds power just snaps off. I have Samsung SSD, I hope it doesn't go down with this laptop due these sudden stops :? A year ago I dropped the machine on it's edge, and it took some damage: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uy0hkz3b3...

Re: X220 dies when resuming from sleep
Thank you for the suggestion. I tried that and terminal prints this when resuming from sleep:

There's nothing attached to any port, could be HW issue according to this discussion:

Re: X220 dies when resuming from sleep
Well it took some time to occur again, I checked syslog and other files and there didn't seem to be anything special (I'm running Ubuntu). Some times this laptop fails to enter sleep too, indicator led goes on, but fan won't go off and battery must be removed to start it again. Motherboard is failin...

X220 dies when resuming from sleep
Hello
My X220 started recently this strange behaviour. Few seconds after resuming from sleep power just goes off in a millisecond, no matter if it's on AC or battery. What could be the cause. SSD might not like sudden power loss
Thank you for suggestions

My guess is, that they started to use cheap low quality cells and modified battery management somehow to kill them faster

Re: "Ultimate" X220 obtained :) Looking for advice (*SMALL PIC*)
The question here is - do I need anything special to use the 7mm HDD from the X220 in the 9.5mm bay of the T60? The width and length should be the same, so it should fit, but will the gap make it unstable? I do see people mentioning 7mm to 9.5mm adapters here and there, so there must be some need i...

X220 battery with Panasonic cells? Rebuild?
Hello Batteries with Sanyo cells seem to die way too quickly, mine went to 40 % capacity after a year and 600 cycles. It was kept at 70-85 % maximum charge for longer life, but that didn't help much  Bought a new 9-cell, but it has Sanyos too. My old T60 battery from 2007 with Panasonic cells ...

Re: X220 and Sierra Wireless MC7710 compatibility ?
I borrow this read for a wwan question:
I have a T520 with ericsson 5521gw and a X220 with Gobi 3000. I'd like to swap these to get a wwan with linux support to X220. Is there any change that these would be locked somehow to their original laptops and wouldn't work if swapped to another?

Re: Kubuntu 12.04 in a X220, experiences and problems
Try to install tlp, tp_smapi 0.41 and and app called powertop. It can advice what's eating energy in your system. http://www.lesswatts.org/projects/powertop/ Took a screenshot, many things were showing "bad" at first http://www.imagesup.net/pm-813448701572.png I also disabled some unused features fr...

Kubuntu 12.04 in a X220, experiences and problems
I'm not an advanced user, but decided to try this out. For thinkpad features and good battery life I installed http://linrunner.de/en/tlp/docs/tlp-linux-advanced-power-management.html and tp_smapi 0.41. Battery life seems to be good, with i7 and 6-cell battery it hangs around 8-9 hours. Battery char...

I got a new x220 few days ago and noticed that this empty expresscard slot must be filled with something instantly, or something like this will happen. Lenovo saved 0.20 usd by shipping this without plastic filler/dummy card in the slot?

What are they thinking with that downgrade? Are they trying to become manufacturer that produces only cheap bulk with low margin?

Re: Cleaning a keyboard
I had a water spill accident with my T520, and it didn't seem to like it too much: all three keys of trackpoint mouse disabled. I tried to fix it by removing the keyboard and blowing it with a hair dryer, but there was no success.

Re: Thinkpad T520 (or other thinkpads) pulsing fan question
I have noted this behaviour, and it is very annoying when it occurs. Fan hits to full blow for 30-40 secs, turns off again for a while and then back on again. Fortunately it doesn't happen too often. Type of the machine is T520 4240-4CG and it has i5-2410 CPU and optimus graphics..

Re: Ultrabay battery not charge, no error messages
Hello
I borrow this thread to ask a question about that ultrabay battery: can it be configured from the batt manager like a primary battery? (set charging thresholds for example)
Hopefully jj0975282 gets his battery/laptop back in order
