Re: 1.8" SATA to 2.5" IDE converter?

I'm a new member here, I've just registered because I would like to have some feedback from you guys. I have an HP 2510p 12" laptop with a 1.8" ZIF drive and I've been writing on the "HP 2510p lounge" forum, but almost noone seems to answer... As you might have understood, I want to change my PATA/...

Re: 1.8" SATA to 2.5" IDE converter?

@ajkula66: Thank you for your immediate reply: it came right as I was polishing my original inquiry ) Since SATA 1 @ 1.5Gbps = 150MBytes/s seems like I won't get anywhere near OCZ Agility 3's advertised max speeds (assuming this SSD is compatible with T43 at all)? If so I'm probably better off buyi...

Re: 1.8" SATA to 2.5" IDE converter?

Also, I'm quite sure this thing would fit in PATA models from Dell, HP/Compaq and others. Why limit yourself? Because he's designed the Shapeways holder to be the same dimensions of the 2.5" drive and the caddy together. ie, it's bigger than a 2.5" drive, and so won't fit the caddies of the Dell, H...

Re: Suggestion an interesting "free" experiment... :-)

Performs "optimize" function on Gen 2 with Windows 7, but is very slow with XP . The "optimize" function of the Intel Toolbox is simply a manual TRIM - it scans every block on the drive, and clears any which contain deleted files. He's saying that this function performs very slowly in Windows XP - ...

Re: 1.8" SATA to 2.5" IDE converter?

This looks like a new item (and you don't have to buy 100 of them) : http://www.microsatacables.com/catalog/i196.html It's also available at their eBay store : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290508236238 One feedback says "Works great! Adapt Intel X18M SSD to IDE laptop Fits 2.5...

Re: 1.8" SATA to 2.5" IDE converter?

but 1.8" ZIF SSDs are almost as expensive as some 2.5" PATA SSDs, and with most models, their performance don't quite saturate ATA100 The trouble is, the vast majority of ZIF and PATA SSDs are junk - they use old-fashioned controllers, and don't perform particularly well. That particular Renice dri...

Re: 1.8" SATA to 2.5" IDE converter?

The condition is that the X18 can be plugged directly into the adapter. The electronic component located on the left hand side of the micro-SATA connector seems to maybe prevent that, but.. I don't know. I hope that the 1.8" drives are narrow enough to fit alongside the component on the left - othe...

Re: 1.8" SATA to 2.5" IDE converter?

Has anyone actually tried to fit an adapter like this + a 1.8" drive in a the bay of a T4x? Otherwise I can probably find the size of the X 18-M online and try to calculate the size of the adapter from the picture. I've never done it no, but the 1.8" drives are much smaller than the regular 2.5" un...

Re: 1.8" SATA to 2.5" IDE converter?

I've been considering the different SSD options for my T43, and came across this older thread about the possibility of having an SATA to IDE converter. If the SATA drive is a 1.8" form factor, then space for the converter chip shouldn't be too much of a problem. Does anyone know if such a converter...
