Re: T61 hardware upgrades
I got two memory sticks: 2gb PC2-5300S and 2gb PC2-6400. I understand that they will be running at the pace of the slower stick but can I use them in dual channel?

Re: Intalling SSD
Thanks a lot. My HDD adapter for UltraBay should arrive tomorrow and the HDD and RAM later this week or perhaps the next. I'll do everything then and post the results later.

Intalling SSD
I'm installing SSD (X25-M) for the first time (or any kind of drive, really). I'm putting it in my T61. First of all, when I put it in, I probably need the rubber things that are on my HDD sides, but do I also need the metal frame? The rubber stuff feels a little loose on the SSD. Then there's that ...

Re: T61 hardware upgrades
Which of these would be best for T61 UltraBay? The price differences aren't very big. I do understand the advances of the 7200rpm, 16MB of course, but I was worrying about the heat/noise. Considering I'm putting it in the T61 UltraBay, is the Western Digital 7200rpm one a good choice? Battery life d...

Re: T61 hardware upgrades
I'd highly recommend you to go for that SSD, you won't be disappointed :BAAAD!: Great! I'll do that then. Remember that in order to fully use over 4GB RAM you'd have to use a 64bits OS. Yep, going with Debian 64bit. Hope this helps... Yes, thank you very much. I'll ask again if something comes up, ...

T61 hardware upgrades
I just bought a T61 (6464-AF4). I was going to buy Intel's X25-M SSD for it, but it seems T61 doesn't support SATA2 speeds—is this true? Would a X25-V be more reasonable? Or is there some other SSD you'd recommend? About RAM. I've read at many places that T61 supports up to 8gb RAM (at one place, up...

Re: How Does One Use WWAN?
I can't verify if the antenna is present or not, as I don't have the laptop yet. But if it says "No WWAN Supported", can I still connect with a mobile broadband with an usb modem or data card?

Re: How Does One Use WWAN?
Does "No WWAN Supported" mean that there's no WWAN antenna nor SIM holder, but I can still use mobile broadband if I have a data card or usb modem? Or is data card not supported either, and if so can I still use usb wireless modem?

Re: Buying T60
I'm also planning to keep a hard drive, or if they can't fit the laptop together, then get external hard drive. The SSD would be only for the OS and applications. But does that mean I'll also need an SATA1 SSD? I was recommended Intel X-25M by ThinkRob, but I think it's SATA2 model. And to answer to...

Re: Buying T60
I was just referring to ThinkloverCH's choice of thread for his post. First of all I'd like to refer anyone reading this to my last post, where there is plenty of questions I don't want to go unnoticed. I'd like you to consider that here in Finland we don't have nearly as many ThinkPads as in United...

Re: Buying T60
Well, I must say that's not very helpful. Besides I'm not American (thank God), so I supposed your post doesn't even concern me. Anyways, I'm still waiting an answer for my inquiry about this model: R61 Intel Core2Duo T8300 2.4 GHz 1Gb RAM DDR2 SO-DIMM 14.1" WXGA (1280 x 800) Intel Graphics Media Ac...

Re: Buying T60
X25-E is out of my budget. There's write speed of 70Mb/s on the X25-M, but 145Mb/s on Kingston SSDNow V100, SATA II, 2.5". Of course I'd like to get a SSD which is reliable and lasts, but Kingston offers twice the writing speed, and Corsair and OCZ offer more than triple. It does seem to me that OCZ...

Re: Buying T60
So I should go with the T7200 with GMA 950 (it's model 6369-69G). That's 64 bit, isn't it? How much RAM do you suggest I get at the beginning? And what kind of SSD should I get for it?

Buying T60
Hi, I'm new here, and new with ThinkPads too. I've been looking for an used laptop to buy, and I've decided on a ThinkPad because it's reliability and Linux compatibility. I was going to buy a certain R61, but someone was faster than me. Now I have several options. I was going buy this one: T60 Core...
