Upgrade T400s Hard Drive

Correct me if I am wrong, but can't you add an SATA drive of any capacity to a T400s using an Ultrabay adapter? Maybe put the current drive in an Ultrabay adapter 'and' get an SSD for the main boot drive. Yes you can. You will need a 1.8" to 2.5" adapter/casing along with the drive and ultrabay ada...

Upgrading T410

I agree that an ssd would give your machine a nice performance boost overall. I have read that an ssd arguably does not improve battery life. But on the flipside, there is zero fragmentation of files by the very nature of ssd's when TRIM support is enabled. I wont comment on EE as I know nearly noth...

T410s wireless not connecting when waking from sleep mode

Does the connectivity fail when you resume from sleep or hibernate? Reason I ask is because somehow my T410s fails to connect only when I resumed from hibernation, not sleep. Which is why I disabled the hibernate. Also if your laptop uses propietary router software to connect, disable stand use the ...

Farewell X301

I owned one for about 6 months and realized that there were better laptops out there and sold it. I just received my t410s, and also own a t400s which both are heads and shoulders above and better than the x301. Ok it's light and relatively fast depending on what you're doing on it. It does have a g...

Upcoming X1 [pics]

I feel it's a bit unfortunate that there will never be a 12" x301 class Thinkpad. That would be my ideal notebook but it would be cannibalizing the x200 series, unless, of course, it was the next one. All I can wait for is to see what Lenovo does with the LV Sandy Bridge. Doesn't 12" x301 = x201/s?...

I just installed my new x-18m drive and it is definitely slower than the other ssd that I had in my x300(which I think was an SLC drive) but still a vast improvement from the hdd.

Connect T400 To TV via HDMI

Videophiles may disagree but I think expensive hdmi cables are a total ripoff. I got a 'discount' on a 3' MonsterCable HDMI cable with gold leads and all for $27(down from $50). I have that running from bluray to tv, and bought a 20'(~3.5m) generic HDMI cable running from my htpc to my tv for $6. Bo...

Connect T400 To TV via HDMI

I can't say that it will work.

I would either buy a port replicator or eBay the T400 and get another thinkpad that has a displayport or dedicated hdmi. That's a surefire way to get what you want.

I would like to use HDMI because I have a 4 port switching box that i would like to connect to. Is there any other way to get HDMI output on a T400. Connect T400 To TV via HDMI

It won't work. These are simple adapters. The VGA-DVI can only convert analog signals. The DVI-HDMI can only convert digital to digital or analog to analog. Unless your TV can accept analog DVI signals, you will not get a picture this way. Thanks for confirming. There is another option, using a USB...

Connect T400 To TV via HDMI

I doubt that would work but I guess it's a cheap enough experiment. If your tv has RCA inputs you can just use a VGA to RCA cable which is robust and cheap. I don't see a benefit to using hdmi if you still have to use a separate cable for audio. I'm not sure but there's probably a VGA to component c...

Connect T400 To TV via HDMI

I connected my x300 to my tv using VGA to DVI. I had to run a male-male headphone cable for audio. Worked fine, but not ideal. VGA to hdmi cables are expensive and doesn't help with the audio. If you're looking to leave it plugged in for a long time it'll work fine but it's too much work in my opini...

SSD for T400

I was actually leaning towards the intel, since I have noticed many of the people on this forum use and recommend them. What is "aligned" in an SSD? I'm a little confused by the whole alignment thing myself, but SSD's with fresh install of windows7 shouldn't have alignment issues.. My understanding...

Qball, you certainly know your hardware. Were u born in a Radio Shack? ;)

That's exactly what I'll be needing, as I was worried about the drive clattering inside the caddy. But $35, wow..I can just buy a 2.5" HDD for that price!

Re: T400s SSD options

Yes. Here's how: Get any 1.8" SSD. Your choices are probably going to be split between the X18-M and the C300 (C300 is faster, X18-M is more reliable but slower). Do a clean install of Windows (whatever you've got). Then, find a 1.8" SATA enclosure for the hard drive. Or, just get a 2.5" enclosure,...

Cool!

Now I've been reading that some 2.5" SSD's can actually fit into 1.8" bays by removing the protective shell. Is this true? If so, the need to pay more for 1.8" prices are OVER!

I wanted to use the HDD in the ultrabay, would it fit if I were to also use the adapter?

T400s SSD options

I just bought a T400s with w7 pro 32 bit and a 160G 1.8" HD. My plan is to purchase a smallish 1.8" SSD(32G) and have it be the system drive and possibly put the other drive into a 9.5mm drive caddy..is this possible? Given that 2.5" laptop hard drives are so cheap nowadays, I wouldn't mind buying a...
