WTB:91P7406 T41 Wireless Athero

I'm looking for the said item in good condition with no weird markings, corrosion, etc.

I'm thinking maybe $12 inc. first class shipping to Denver, CO?

Let me know. Thanks!

W98 512mb memory limit

I'm aware that there's a limit and it seems to be at 512mb.

I'm confused though.

Does the problem occur starting at 512mb? Or does it happen for the value greater than 512mb? (Thus up to and including 512mb is ok?)

Hope my wording is not too confusing:)

Thanks

I have cf to ide adapter from amzn for about 12 bucks and I'm using it on my 380xd also. No pin modifications were needed. It fits perfectly.

Has anyone ever tried 770x hinge repair?

Unlike most laptops, 770 series has a nut on the hinge and one may be able to tighten the nut to fix the loose hinge.

Has anyone ever tried that? My 770x hinge is pretty loose and I'm thinking about tightening up.

Thanks

K-light codec version for Pentium 3?

does anyone know what the latest K-Light Codec version for Pentium 3 with XP SP3?

I'm setting up my new-to-me A30p with P3 at 1.2Ghz and XP.

My usual K-Codec version 1385 refuses to install cuz it's got P3 rather than P4 :(

Thanks!

Hi Jefferson. I have both of these rare, highly-desirable, and very-hard-to-find items: the Ultrabay carrier/keypad combo. P.S. My descendants will be SO grateful if you don't purchase these..... They REALLY don't want to give away their inheritance!! Thanks for your offer! I know what you mean :) ...

Re: is T60 a good gaming laptop?

T43 had some speedy fans that also get noisy and die easily, but they pushed air. T60 fans run slower maybe as a reaction to complaints about the T43. T60 has poor ventilation as well. If you can find T500 with Radeon 3650 or W500, after a fresh repasting with quality paste (Arctic Silver 5 or MX4 ...

Re: XP games on CD/DVDs

For protected games, I found that Alcohol 120 is good for making images compatible with the protection (SafeDisc/SecuROM/StarForce), but it's not free. CloneCD should also be able to do it. Not sure if ImgBurn can. In any case, you sometimes need to find the specific settings in the image-ripping t...

I make images with ImgBurn, then mount them with Daemon Tools Lite. Sometimes images made with CloneCD work better, as they create a separate subchannel file which is included in the .cue.

is T60 a good gaming laptop?

i'm asking this because I tried to put together one few years back. but no matter what i do(new HS+fan, repasting, copper shim), it would overheat in less than 1 minute and frame rate would drop to single digits - so no games were playable. for example, NFS Most Wanted plays fine on T43 for hours, w...

XP games on CD/DVDs

I'v'e rebuilt my old T43 and I love playing games on it. I have several good games from the XP era, Need for Speed, Alice 1, black and white to name a few. They are all CD/DVD based games. I hate swapping CD/DVDs for playing games. I tried to use virtual CD software but they simply don't work. I ima...

I have had several hundred of T43 machines go through my hands.
Never seen a foil/shim/whatever on the CPU, other than thermal paste.
thanks for your comment.

With the fact that my T43 came with unlocked bios, i'm beginning to think that it was the previous owner who tried thermal mod on T43.

Re: T43 fan noise clicky?

If you are good at handiworks and want to save up a bit of cash you can try to open the fan up and lubricate the fan. You need to separate the aluminium bottom against the copper top via the 4 joints (be careful to minimise the deformation caused by the prying), and then you can pull the fan blade ...

That fan will work in both sizes T4x/p.
The whitelist was probably removed by applying TTAV134's BIOS.
If you also have Slic2.1 in BIOS (which automatically activates W7), then you definitely have that BIOS.
Thanks!

T43 P4-2.13 CPU core thin foil??

When I took apart my new-to-me T43 for thermal repasting, I noticed a piece of square-shaped thin foil that covered the CPU core. I was in a hurry so I removed it and applied thermal paste, as i've done many times in the past. But now I wonder if I should've left it alone. It's thicker than househol...

Re: T41 W98 SE unknown devices :(

The issue is most likely the correct driver for your wireless card (I know it shows up as a PCI device, but I don't remember if it also says USB). T41 has one of 3 wireless mini-PCI cards, each one needing it's own driver. The use of the wrong driver will likely result in an unknown device. If remo...
