mSata works fine, put it in, it recognized it. Initialized and all is good. Then rebooted, and for some unknown reason, the bios seemed to think a new drive was more likely to have the os on it than the old drive, and put it higher on the boot list. once this was changed, all is good! thanks for all...

You can restore from it. I don't believe we are allowed to discuss methods of creating extra restore media here, but you should only need one as a backup to your R&R partition. You can remove the drive letter from the partition, hiding it from view, using Windows disk management. how do you restore...

im not sure we are talking about the same thing. the recovery partition that came with my t40 was hidden, and allowed for restore. but the one on this t420s isnt hidden, and now that i burned the dvd's, it isnt at all clear i can restore from it again. thats my question; if i CAN restore from it, i'...

i created the recovery media for my t420s

any reason now i shouldnt recover the drive space? is there any way to make another copy of the media, or restore from this partition? or once you make the media thats it.

i agree, but either way i need the msata :) where can i get drives that fit the 420s? i know they are some non standard size that i think only toshiba makes. and what rails/adapters do i need to fit them? i know going the other way you need some different rails for the ssd, and i had read they were ...

well, thats what i would do if i had the msata first, but i ordered it with only the ssd and that takes up the hdd space, so the only open slot is the msata...

i got it working.

turned out on reinstall, the drivers had an option to connect to the access point even if the ssid wasnt broadcast; this defaulted to off, and it needed to be on.

i have a t420s with a centrino 6300 agn wireless card. i restored my system from a backup (a mistake...) and now the wireless function doesnt work. under device manager the card/driver seems to be installed properly. but the card wont connect to any networks. it does see them however, just wont conn...

i ordered a t420s about a month ago; it arrived a week ago, so about 3 weeks for me.

i had the i7 with ssd though, so that may have delayed it a bit
