Re: T60 random shutdowns but not overheating, no virus. Mystery

I'm getting this on a T60 that has no battery and it running on AC. 117V at the wall adapter reads 19.7v at the output. It'll boot and run for hours, then all of a sudden dies. It died booting XP with the four color xo splash screen greyed out when it locks up. If I power it down it won't power back...

Odd USB problem

(T61 XP) I plugged in a Netgear A6210 1200AC WFI USB 3 thing last xmas and it performed better than expected until last week. The laptop will no longer recognize the thing. Bong-bong-bong. I tried everything for three days, uninstalling, cleaning the registry, resetting memory and vacuuming it out. ...

Need a little screw

(Ok that sounded better in my head). Hello; I have a tale of woe regarding an otherwise flawless R61 15.4". In my absence my daughter and father decided to fix a noisy fan by taking the computer-love of my life to a deranged alcoholic for repairs. Despite the cardboard, duct tape and PC desktop case...

Internal network (wifi/ethernet) card in R61e

My card fried and has two connecting wires.

Will the cards that have three connection pins work? Seems unlikely to me but stranger things have happened. If they do work which two do you connect?

Moderator edit: Moved thread from (initially, incorrectly) being posted in the T6x forum.

Re: WTB: smartcard reader for T61p

What happened to "small parcel rate" - the one that if it fits through the template that have of a mail slot in a door then it qualifies for small parcel rate, which is about $3.

What's the deal with R/T60 widesceen fans?

My daughter and I both have R60 15.4" widescreen units; One fan has failed. Poking around on ebay there are very different looking (and costing) fans all purported to be the right part. Also it's an assembled unit. Is not replacing just the fan done at all? Is there a better (perhaps lower power or ...

Re: LG SXGA+ Flexview aging effects

You have to keep on mind the eye is more sensitive to green than any other color (some camera ccd's are too).

But, if nothing else the last photo illustrates better than all the words in the world the advantage of the flexview display. Good job.

Re: Did MS "borrow" from Linux Distros?

Just to clear up a few historical inaccuracies. Xerox did the hardware (for the Star) systems at PARC, but the GUI/software was done at Xerox El Sugundo in Los Angeles. BBS's absolutely did not invent mail and discussion groups. BBS's didn't exist until consumer modems were around, early to mid 80s....

Re: Hybrid SSD drive - anyone tried it?

These Segate momentus drives came out in May 2010 for 130 and can now be had for $69 on Amazon. I'd love to hear they utterly rawk, but the one person I know that tried them had this to say: "It seemed like a great idea when it cost twice as much. Fast to boot, but then fast to bluescreen, fast to c...
