Re: [NO?] T42p ATI MOBILITY FireGL T2 supports display rotation?
I guess NO is the answer to this question, but I would be happy if someone disagrees.

Re: T42p UXGA ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2 supports display rotation?
These look a lot like an older version of Omega drivers... and they do give the rotation options... but they also give very similar complaining messages and don't actually rotate my screen out of the box; and I couldn't find any settings to help that... So essentially, the same comment as for the Om...

Re: T42p UXGA ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2 supports display rotation?
Right, T42p's Mobility FireGL T2 is quite different from T43p's Mobility FireGL V3200. Thanks for the reference.
The question remains...

Re: T42p UXGA ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2 supports display rotation?
Thanks, but this version complains that it has nothing to offer for my hardware and exits installation. The CCC version at the beginning of the thread is the latest that would install (as far as I can see... I didn't test every single later version, but tried a few with identical complains ). BTW, t...

Re: T42p UXGA ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2 supports display rotation?
Anybody with a 15" UXGA (1600×1200) T42p, using ATI Mobilty FireGL T2, was able to achieve the display rotation, without using Pivot? Thanks.

Re: T42p UXGA ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2 supports display rotation?
Alright. Pivot Pro 8.24 worked. Nice to have a solution, although it costs money. Thanks again for the advice. However I'm not sure if this proves that the graphics chip itself natively supports rotation, i.e. I don't know if they are rotating using some clever software trick, which works on some ca...

Thanks for the lead. Pivot didn't work from the get go, but I'll try to play with.RealBlackStuff wrote:These folks have your TP on their compatibility list: http://www.portrait.com/enu/pivot/overview.html
ANYWAY, my question still stands, anybody here was able to rotate display on the same thinkpad? Thanks.

OK. Well... anybody with a 15" UXGA (1600×1200) T42p, using ATI Mobilty FireGL T2, was actually able to achieve the display rotation? [ http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=93821&p=618211#p618211 ] Thanks. P.S. Omega 3.8.442 drivers give the rotation options, but they only blink and compla...

Re: [NOT SOLVED]rotate screen on t42 ?
In any case, ATI Tray Tool has rotation functionality. It is part of the Omega Drivers, which incidentally I've been using on my T42 instead of the Lenovo drivers, and they work somewhat better. No Mobility Modding is required. Also, dr_st, did you have to set the Omega drivers in any special way f...

Re: Try the free program "iRotate"....
Although it is not evident (to me!) if you are still looking for a method/program to rotate the image on the LCD, then - if still of interest - try see the following post Help needed to rotate or flip image on screen T40 [/u] and the link to the free program iRotate [/u] . W500 disk speed: primary versus ultrabay.
Hi.
I have two identical 7200 RPM 500GB hitachi drives installed in my W500 [].
I get about 60-70 MB/sec for write and around 80 MB for read for the primary drive
and the solid 100 MB/sec for read and write for ultrabay drive.
Anybody knows why the primary drive runs slower?
Thanks.

Re: Does ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2 support screen rotation?
Thanks for the suggestion. The Omega drivers indeed give the option to rotate, but the rotation doesn't seem to work: If I try to do it from the Advanced display options, I get: "The requested Rotation mode is not supported by your current display mode (...). Please change the current display mode a...

[NO] T42p ATI MOBILITY FireGL T2 supports display rotation?
I have a 15" UXGA(1600x1200) T42p with ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2 card using ATI 2/6/2007 6.14.10.6547 driver. I've installed ATI Catalyst Control Center Version 2008.0512.1133.18639 [the latest that will work on this thinkpad, I think] and see the rotation options, but they are "greyed out". Does this...

Re: t42p won't boot from SATA drive in the ultrabay caddy
Thanks again for the comments and suggestions. I succeeded in booting from the UB SATA drive. I did it by first creating the ThinkVantage "RNR Media" on UB SATA drive and only then running the RNR to do the full backup of the system in the primary drive while storing the backups on the UB SATA drive...

"The SATA drive is in a generic "SATA_to_IDE" ultrabay enclosure and is seen as an IDE by the system after F12. Perhaps you can be a bit more specific about your suggestion." If you go into Bios -- Config -- Serial SATA (I guess that would be IDE for you) Do you find a choice for either IDE or Comp...

Re: t42p won't boot from SATA drive in the ultrabay caddy
How did you install the OS on that SATA drive? By using the ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery [RR]: I chose "Second hard drive" as the backup location and then RR made it bootable and copied minimal OS and the required RR tools there before running the actual backup for the first time. The same thin...

Re: t42p won't boot from SATA drive in the ultrabay caddy
Thanks for the comments. Is it possible you need to configure the bay hdd in bios under compatibility mode? I'm not sure about your T41p, but maybe your SATA needs ACHI or compatibility as opposed to ide mode? I don't see any options in the BIOS of my T42p related to a "compatibility mode". The SATA...

[SOLVED] T42p won't boot from SATA drive in the UB adapter
Hi, My t42p won't boot from SATA drive in the ultrabay caddy. I'm hoping to use it as an internal backup and extra storage drive. I've created Recovery Media with ThinkVantage 4.23 on the HDD and then choose to boot from this HDD with F12. Although the media appears to be created successfully, it wo...
