Not to mention that 600 are completely different systems than 755CD :)

They are far away from cheap.

As for recovery: take a glimpse or as around on forums' marketplace. You should have no real issues getting it.

The one for T40 will work.
Actually the one for much more popular T43 will work as well.

..and if you had a 15" 4:3 T60(p) interposter board (FRU-s: 41W1055 39T0482 41W1130)? I think only 16:10 15,4" units do the trick. I am at a little bit different project right now, but once I'm back into T/R series I will make a comparison... someday... P.S. Very nice mSATA-SATA adapter! What's the...

Try Core Temp for more accurate info: https://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ Then HWinfo stands the right temps (unfortunately). On the other hand, I think I am a little big closer to settling at the right temp. After polishing copper face and swapping thermal compound to NT-H1 temps under load have dropp...

Hello. New member here. Welcome to the forum! Where to start... Not just any 16:10 T61p but a 15.4" 16:10 T61p. 14.1" 16:10 T61p mobo is not suitable. BTW look at both T61p and T61. There shouldn't be that much diff. Hold your horses here. There were no 16:10 14,1" T61p. I don't know how things sta...

unixed is correct. Resultantly, all W500 are dual core units with 2 memory slots. AFAIK no Core 2 Duo ThinkPad had more than 2 memory slots, ever.
W700 had.

Hmm.. but do we have a BIOS for it? I actually don't know why you are presuming we do not without a simple search :) We have everything needed, but the cooling solution has to be modified. QX9300 core size is larger than polished copper space on R61 fan (it is more rigid, but has less polished copp...

Re: I've been thinking of a R61-series based Frankenpad? Is this feasible?

The only reason I didn't go for one instead of a lots more convoluted Frankenpad project is because there is a known process to fit top-grade CPU-s (1066FSB, 4-cores) onto T61 mobos and there is no such process for R61. R61 can be FSB-modded in exactly the same way :) P.S. I would politely object t...

Re: I've been thinking of a R61-series based Frankenpad? Is this feasible?

Easiest would indeed be that 15" 4:3 R61, IF you can find a working/matching R61 motherboard. Still numerous devices available in Europe. It's only getting harder to get pristine units. Hi, this wouldn't be a Frankenpad however? R61 motherboard in R61 body? After all you'd be using different LCD, r...

Close, but 15,4" 16:10 simply fits better (including port placement).

If that is so, P50 would be a friend of yours. I bought mine for $600 with 32Gb of DDR-4 (still 2 slots left), nVMe SSD, i7 quadcore 6-gen and a nicey nVidia quadro for simulation and CAD tasks.

Good work. The keyboard retention screw doesn't pass through the planar and requires a better solution than omission to preserve the famed keyboard response characteristics, but you're well on your way. :) Fixed with... double-sided 3M tape ^^' Generally the same occurs for R600 :) Gotta love those...
