Downside is the battery management nowhere near as good as Windows as no Lenovo Battery/Power Management drivers,
Maybe this helps a bit: linrunner.de/en/tlp/tlp.html.
There are packages already available in both Debian and Fedora.
Works like a charm for me in Debian.

Re: Which version of Linux to install?

Is it solely to present a new Desktop Environment that you have built an installer for? Why are you working with Jessie? Jessie (Debian 8 ) will be still supported for a while, wouldn't it be better to build on the current Stable release (Stretch aka Debian 9)? The Window Maker window manager is on...

Re: Which version of Linux to install?

It's going to take me a while to wrap my head around your approach, but I find it very, VERY interesting so far. I assume that "your approach" mainly refers to the rather non-standard GUI which is not following the established desktop paradigms. ;) There is a minimal XFCE4 desktop included which yo...

Just finished uploading the new Window Maker Live release 0.95.7-4.

Fetch it while it is still hot: sourceforge.net/projects/wmlive/files/wmlive_0.95.7-4/

A proper official release announcement will follow once i find some time for it.

Re: Which version of Linux to install?

I did not read your page thoroughly... am I correct that you are now based on Jessie? Do you plan to make another build based on Stretch? Yes, 0.95.7-4 is still based on Jessie, still featuring kernel 3.16.43 supporting older processor generations than the additional included kernel 4.9.30 does. Se...

Don't waste any time with version 0.95.7-3 anymore and allow a few more days for uploading version 0.95.7-4.

Looks very interesting. I will probably try it soon.
(don't forget to update your Distro Watch listing)
Please be patient still and wait for the upcoming new version 0.95.7-4.
There are many little enhancements (UEFI support, expert installer mode, etc.) that make it worth the wait.

Re: X200 worth an SSD Upgrade? Or new 2xx?

Would a SSD speed up these idle times a lot, or is it the processor that is too old? Upgrading the CPU will not be of much effect, but replacing that "slow as molasses" HDD by whatever SSD you can get will give an impressively immediate speed boost. Even the fastest processor will always be thwarte...
