Re: Bottom of T430 motherboard

At least on the T430 the SPI flash signals are routed to the connector headers J14 and J27 which can be accessed from the top of the mainboard but I guess both are hidden under the structure frame.
See the second picture on this page of the bottom area with J14 and parts of J27.

Golden Finger Debug Board Connector

Hi, some older Thinkpads (at least the *00 - *20 series) feature a so-called Golden Finger for Debug Board on their mainboards which let you connect to the LPC bus. This is a 2x13 pins connector with a 1mm pitch. Does anyone know where to get a fitting connector for this finger? I'm thinking about c...

Re: Would you recommend a W530 in this day and age?

If you can settle with the RAM limit of 16G and the weaker graphics, I'd go for a T530. It runs with the smaller 90W power supply while a W530 with i7 needs at least the 135W brick.

Re: WTB: Lenovo Thinkpad W520 or W500

If the panel is too dim, you may consider a LED modkit. I once did it with a kit from xccfl.com on a WUXGA and was quite satisfied with the brightness afterwards.

Re: W530 backlight fuse location -- front or back of board?

The backlight fuse is called F7 (3A, 0402) and is located at the bottom of the board, see this picture.

Re: T420s FHD Mod and BOE NV140FHM-N41 Panel

I've found this specification on the web, too. But if I look into the EDID, also the one of the FHD mod (copied from B140HAN01.2 I guess) says "6 bits per primary color channel". Are the FRC bits transmitted in some separate eDP packets? Main question is, if a simple update of the FHD mod PCB EDID w...

T420s FHD Mod and BOE NV140FHM-N41 Panel

Hi, I've got one of the infamous BOE NV140-FHM N-41 panels from an ebay shop, which doesn't work with the FHD Mod PCB, but run fine in the T440 / T450. As I have both T420s and T440p at hand, I tried to figure out why and had a look at the EDIDs of the NV140 and the FHD Mod PCB (which probably is th...

Re: where to get Bios dump to revert Coreboot install on X220?

But, I could flash this Bios via RaspberryPi and flashrom, for this I would need a Bios dump. I could not yet find an X220 Bios dump on the net. Could someone please provide me a X220 bios dump? In case you haven't solved your problem yet, try these instructions for getting the BIOS part of the FL1...

Re: L430: keyboard backlight

Meanwhile I've got the schematics of a L430. It seems like all pins necessary for the keyboard backlight are connected in the L430: pin 21 - output from the kbd, LOW if BL available pin 25 - PWM input in the kbd, LOW = off pin 29 - 5V Vcc for BL, fused with 1.5A So the lockout of keyboards with BL i...

L430: keyboard backlight

Hi,

has anyone already tried to mod a L430 (or L530) for a working keyboard backlight? Would be nice in the absence of the Thinklight on these models.
Does anyone own the schematics of a L430/530 and is willing to share them? This would be really helpful!

Cheers,

Re: PMH-7 / Rinkan documentation available?

After more than a year and some defective Thinkpads later: Yes, the Rinkan-1 generates VCC3SW from VREGIN20. VCC3SW is needed to open the first MOSFET in the DC-In path. But I'm still looking for more information about the Rinkan-1, aka Toshiba TB62513FG. I'm currently looking at one in a X301, wher...

If you install WinXP, check the SATA mode in the BIOS. It must be "compatible" (not AHCI),

PMH-7 / Rinkan documentation available?

Hi, I try to repair a dead T500. I've got the schematics, but there are two chips called PMH-7 and Rinkan (DC/DC) where I cannot find any documentation in the web. Any hints on where to get them? AFAIK they are used in the T61 and T400, too. If someone has them but is under NDA: I wonder if the Rink...

Re: T60/61: Any working BIOS diagnostic card?

Just for documentation: A parallel port diagnostic card (two digits, manufactured by Sintech (?)) works fine with a T61 attached to a 2504 docking station. As the T61 works I see fast changing codes stopping at 03. Meanwhile I've sold the broken T60 from the first post. I focus on a T61 mainboard no...

I'll post the same response I put into the other forum for documentation: As far as I know, none work in the T60. I use one of these on T61 and newer: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310316355904&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Fsatitle%3D310316355904%...

T60/61: Any working BIOS diagnostic card?

Hi, does anyone know which kind of BIOS diagnostic card will work on a T60 Thinkpad? I've got a miniPCIe card (KQMET6 by QiGuang) here, which displays "no / 04F1" decoded into "no reset / no code", but the T60 beeps when RAM is removed, so I guess the BIOS isn't corrupted and it simply doesn't put t...

T60: Display inverter XGA vs. SXGA+/UXGA

Hi, the HMM specifies different display inverters for XGA and SXGA+/UXGA on a T60 15": 42T0077 vs. 42T0079. Does anyone know the reason? I looked into the datasheets of a Samsung LTN150XG-L08 (FRU 13N7065, XGA) and a Boe-Hydis HV150UX1-100 (UXGA). Backlight current is 0.5 mA(rms) higher with the UXG...

I replaced a Samsung LTN154P2-L05 (WSXGA) by a LG Philips LP154WU1-TLB1 (FRU 42T0613, WUXGA)
from a T500/W500 in my T60p wide recently. No need to touch the EDID.
