Re: What can i use to put a .IMG file onto a floppy disk?

For backing up floppies... dd is awesome... it is a raw copy... example for a 1.44MB floppy... dd if=\\.\a: of=filename.ima bs=1440k dd: the program (for windows :) ) if: input "file" (linux treats drives as "files") of: output file... any name you want here (IMA IMG are the standard extensions for ...

So any older 16bit wireless that has drivers for your OS should work.

Re: intermittent modem

Have you installed MS DUN 1.4? the Dial-up Networking upgrade? If not, you need that, it fixes several issues. Do you have the lasted modem drivers from IBM? Again, if not, get those. As far as not having the Windows 98 CD, open My Computer, right click the hard disk and choose "Find...", in the bo...

There is a thread in this forum on the 760 and 8GB CF cards... I have had luck with them... but only when using grub to load linux or bootstrap DOS.

4GB works fine for DOS/WIN but you need FAT16 for the IBM hibernate file.

I would definately turn off the virus scanners resident parts, and just scan any file downloaded with it or at http://virusscan.jotti.org/ Ditch the defender in favor of Spybot Search & Destroy, only use it's on demand portion... with noscript/adaware you can skip the resident part of spybot. there is also rawrite, dd, or a trial of WinImage. Another handy tool if you work with floppies is vfdwin, Virtual Floppy Drive for Windows... I use it to extract those IBM driver disks to an IMG so i can use rawrite/dd/winimage later to write to a real floppy without having to read through the lice...

My 760's use a 17mm drive that the 12.5 would fit in easily, pretty much the whole 7 series would take it.

Ok, if after your connection "fails" you can still see the star wars movie via telnet... then you are still connected and your connection has not failed. Sounds like 98's network layer is messed up. I would try a "fix" install of 98... running setup and telling it to install over the current windows...

You could always hot glue it to the caddy, that's what I did with a CF2IDE and 16GB CF in my T20. The tricky part is getting the height right on the adapter to plug into the laptop. The hot glue removes easily enough and in my case the CF card is not attached, just inserted into the CF2IDE.

4+ is ok once i re-arrange everything so it looks like pre-4 and add status4eva :P

Firefox 2 with 5 tabs and the normal extensions (Adblock, NoScript, Greasemonkey, TabMix+, Customize Google) is only using 60MB of mem on my T20... 3+ is well over 150MB. So I stick with 2 on old hardware :P

I find older apps run smoother on a 750MHz... thus Firefox 2.

Yea, the main one i use, Process Explorer is limited to v12.04.. but you can get all old versions from http://court.shrock.org/sysinternals/

That's before sysinternals was acquired by MS :) (Even the good old tcpview 2.34)

Could also be a faulty cf card or adapter... all those "Fatal error" and "page fault" ones sure are reminiscent of faulty memory though.
