Re: [eBay][EU) x60, x61 8 or 4 cell genuine battery

Nice find, great recommendation and I need one, but.... free shipping within Germany, but €25,80 shipping to Sweden?? That doesn't really make any sense, particularly with such a relatively small item. Heck, I once bought a car battery (albeit small) from Germany and paid about that amount for...

WTB: T61 plastic spares (KB bezel, palm rest, LCD cover)

My trusted T61 (8895-2FG) is slowly falling apart and I'm in the market for the following spares (or an empty donor shell):

Palm rest with fingerprint reader 42W2957 or 42W3820
LCD cover kit 42W3651 or 42X3913

Darn. Close but no cigar on the FIN/SWE NMB, am looking for a T6* NMB.

If you bump into one in good condition do tell!

Re: WTB T61 NMB keyboard Swedish-Finnish layout

My current NMB is in such case definitely made in China and that of my retired T40 in Thailand... Was reminded of the pure awesomeness of the T40 NMB - plus general touch and feel of the machine (LCD aside  ) - when I recently needed a Linux environment and took the T40 from storage. Given the...

WTB T61 NMB keyboard Swedish-Finnish layout

My keyboard is showing signs of age and I thought I'd start looking, particularly since my preferences narrow things down a great deal: Swedish-Finnish layout NMB (not yet desperate enough to go for anything else) Excellent/good used condition (above all key response wise, minor visual flaws is fine...

UHU Alleskleber This is such a helpful forum, thanks :) Is the "solvent free" part of the recommendation or optional? I'd like to know a good source of rubber feet as well. :) Ask and thou shalt be given :) I'm sure someone has a scrap cover which can donor a rubber feet or two for a symbolic price...

Re: Need advice for my 6 T61s

Instead of updating each machine and literally wasting hour upon hour doing so, update only one machine to perfection, and then take an image which you can copy onto the other hard disks. Good and sound advice. If you go that route, read up on the do's and don'ts on this forum. At least for older T...

Suitable glue for bottom rubber feet/strip

Howdy folks,

One of the rubber feet/strip under my T61 has come off. Seems the factory glue is some kind of non-hardening adhesive, as it's still sticky. Any recommendations on suitable type of glue to use, or is it a matter of "whatever" is at hand?

If that's actually the culprit, then you've been quite lucky managing to run a dying drive for more than a year. Now lets hope you've found the problem and will have some smooth sailing with your T41 :)

Re: Santa's bringing a SSD for my T61: Any installation advice?

Well, it's not like Win7 is in any way slow. I just clocked my rig at 25 seconds to log-in screen (including bios POST etc), login to desktop is pretty much instant and this on a machine with a slower SSD. I do know that Microsoft has done some successful work on bringing down boot times in Win8, bu...

Re: Santa's bringing a SSD for my T61: Any installation advice?

Note that I used HDClone 4.1 free edition, remember to mount the SSD in the HDD bay and your old disk in an Ultrabay or USB-enclosure if you go for cloning the old HDD. This is true and my own experience. If at all an option I would however recommend a clean install. I may also add one more thing. ...

Re: Santa's bringing a SSD for my T61: Any installation advice?

I'm not the pro guy, but it should be pretty much straight forward with Win7/8 (partition alignment is taken care of by Windows etc). As for Windows flavour, my personal preference would definitely be Win7, but that's a a taste and personal preference question. If you choose Win7 and happen to have ...

I just came to think about one thing. In this thread most people have mentioned T43s as receivers of the MB, but it fits any T4x, right? And in such case, are there any disadvantages with using an earlier model as base beyond Flexview starting with T42 (which is only applicable for 15" models)?

Why don't you start by locating and checking the fuse, that's after all something you can do without special tools. How it's done you'll have to google or ask here since I have no clue myself. Don't know how it is for XP/Vista (I guess the machine comes with either of those) and I don't have any around right now to check, but at least on Win7 you can - and if need be - always change the license by going to Computer => Properties => Change product key. 1st gen i5 is enough for me, with an emphasis on cool and silent. (I do observe, that my T42p with single core 1.8GHz Pentium M and SSD on PATA/SATA adapter offers the same speed in daily use, as a Win7 64 bit on an HP EliteBook with SSD.) Same goes for my general usage pattern and where the differ...

When I say the T4x is better than the T6x, I'm not referring to the hardware specs. I'm referring to the materials used, the assembly and the aesthetics. The plastic used on the T4x seems like they sourced a better grade of plastic that feels denser and does not flex as much - In general, feels mor...

As generally happy as I am with my T61 (particularly after a crash and burn by buying a T400), I got a reminder of what a solid feeling my old T40 gives when I took it out of hibernation the other week. Perhaps you could try the standard version of the program (either by starting Windows in test mode or signing the driver using DSEO) to see whether the issue disappears or if the problem is something else.
