Re: 5200mAh Battery for X61 Tablet...?
I haven't returned it. My run time bounces down to 10 minutes and then back up to 4.5 h. Apparently, it needs to discharge the battery periodically to figure out how much charge is on the thing. Since the previous battery wasn't this flaky, I suspect it's some sort of controller on the battery that ...

Re: 5200mAh Battery for X61 Tablet...?
It's not necessarily the battery. It looks like some sort of communication problem developed between the battery & my linux X61. I'm going to give it a few more days. It's back up to 4.5 hours. I've seen this sort of crazy stuff before with the X61 batteries, so, I'm hoping I don't have to send it b...

Re: 5200mAh Battery for X61 Tablet...?
New 5200 mAh battery is now failing. It's declined to ~30 min of power at nearly fully charge. Well, that certainly was an eventfull couple of weeks. We'll see how the warranty program is.

Sorry, running LInux. Don't know how to find the battery info. It's from the same reseller you got it from, ACT.

Re: dim & yellowed screen on x61 tablet: REPLACE?
I know it's a little off-topic, but, I wanted to try forcing the X201 or X220 lcd backlight into an X61. Can anyone see any reason that wouldn't work?

Re: 5200mAh Battery for X61 Tablet...?
I ended up getting the 5200 mAh battery I mentioned from Amazon. It is a little flaky with how much time it has left, but, I get a solid 4.5 hours with wireless & max screen brightness. So, no complaints for $30. The extra couple of centimeters doesn't bother me. We'll see how long it lasts me.

@mario90:
So, do you give that battery a thumbs up? I need to get one, and, this one http://www.amazon.com/ATC%C2%AEIBM-Batt ... 785&sr=1-7 is on Amazon. Sounds like the same one.

I found that 1.25 was unstable but 1.24 Middleton whitelisted bios was stable.

Re: 5200mAh Battery for X61 Tablet...?
I bought one of those large 3rd party batteries, and, it just died today. It never really delivered the capacity it said it would, and, it lasted even less time than the Lenovo (~1 year vs. 2-3 years for Lenovo).

@bp409. If you're still around, I've been looking at using the new X201 LCD lamp as an upgrade for the X61. From your experience, do you think it would work? I think it's about the same size screen, a little shorter in the vertical direction, I think. See http://www.batterycentury.com/lenovo-thinkpa...

Re: Progress on X61 hot handrest under Linux.
Wow, that is small. I ended going with something called the Black Knight. It's huge but mostly gets the job done. It starts kernel panic in Ubuntu if you resume from sleep where the wireless driver was enabled at the time. It's probably an Ubuntu issue, though. Too bad I didn't buy that one.

Re: X61T vs X61s temperatures?
It's an X61 tablet. I've read that the X61s has some auxiliary vents around the palm rest to keep it cooler. My grand plan is to put a blower fan in the PC Card slot. I found some fans small enough from Sunon: http://search.digikey.com/scripts/dksearch/dksus.dll?site=us;lang=en;vendor=259;mpart=UB5U...

Re: X61T vs X61s temperatures?
I removed the internal wireless card using the Lenovo instructions (which are a little defective when it comes to which screws to remove for the handrest). The heat was bad under windows but much worse under Linux. The driver in linux has broken power management (it's was literally turned off by the...

Re: X61T BIOS settings for SSD
The bios is apparently limiting SSD speed. I'm using a modified bios from Middleton on this site: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/459591-t61-x61-sata-ii-1-5-gb-s-cap-willing-pay-solution-8.html . You can read his description there. I'm using the 1.24 version http://www.mediafire.com/file/...

Progress on X61 hot handrest under Linux.
I installed Opensuse 11.4 on my X61t and managed to tweak the driver for the centrino wifi card to enable power management on. This was based on someone else's fix previously listed (can't take full credit). Now that the power management is on, I have been playing with various tweaks. It works a lit...

Want to set up custom X61t distribution
Hi all; I've installed fresh linux on my x61t a number of times, and, this time windows is getting erased. I'd like to cut down on reinstallation work and give back to the community by creating a custom distro for the X61t that will save a lot of time getting things up and running. I'd like to base ...
