So at 124kb, that would take what, another nanosecond or two to load?
You are missing the point, deliberately or not.

Rules are here to be obeyed, whether one agrees with them or not.
I was just highlighting the lunacy behind the rule, that's all.

My work here is done.

That "small" screenshot was 124.11 KB, well over the 50KB limit!

Re: Is image-loading warning still enforced in the forum in 2019?

Did you actually get a warning for this? Because, being a mod, I can view your user record, and I see no warnings there at all. Do you mean that someone broke the tags on the 10 3000-something by 2000-something pictures that you posted, which break the page layout for every user? I don't think ther...

The fact that you've completely ignored everything I (and others) said about the Pictures forum (which exists for the sole purpose of people being able to post pics of anything they like without any archaic limitations) shows me that you are not trying to solve any practical problem, because there ...

Re: Is image-loading warning still enforced in the forum in 2019?

You have absolutely no data to back up your 99% vs. 1% statement. That's why you might want to take a poll and find out what your membership base is all about, because clearly you do not have a clue either and I would estimate the real number is closer to ZERO percent. The rule hasn't been updated ...

Re: Is image-loading warning still enforced in the forum in 2019?

Okay so that being said, what's the point? You make it difficult for 99% of the forum population for the unsubstantiated one percent who may have slow internet?! Apparently, the forum management doesn't listen to their membership base. Sad and unfortunate situation we find ourselves in. I will take ...

Don't mind me, I'm just venting about this picture thing. Trying to wrap my head around this. Lets see: A multi-media device (computer) forum wherein multi media is essentially outlawed. So bizarre. Ever heard the expression a picture is worth a thousand words? The rule is paradoxical. This is the only computer forum I am aware of that has a rule like this in place. Pictures and image posting are natural, especially when talking about new builds, screen grabs, etc. Computers are a multi media p...

Its well over 80*F here so I am rather limited by thermals at the moment.

When I get some cooler ambient temps I will try to get closer to your mark.

Yeah heat definitely plays a factor. As you can see I was right at the redline with that last run. Both cores were at or about 200*F for at least half a minute. Not something I want to do every day, but once in a while is alright.

Yes, I did another run just to check things out but it wasn't much different. Are you saying you have the same system running the benchmark in literally half the time? To be clear, you are using a T61p for this bench as well?

Re: SL500 Restoration Blog

I know it's a cheap machine, but I've chosen to restore it for sentimental reasons. Once completed I will re-gift it back to my sister. One advantage I see of the SL 500 over the T61 is CPU installation. Very easy on the SL500, T61, not so much. I am thinking the P9700 is 28W, so it should do fine @...

Yeah, very cool project you've got going on here. That laptop is a perfect 10. Did you install XP in it because you want to preserve factory condition? Because Windows 10 runs fine on a T61p and gives you much more in the way of usability. Might I also recommend ThrottleStop and TPFanControl. Are yo...

Is the memory functioning correctly when booted into windows or are you dealing with an unstable system?

Reason im asking is maybe you can leave it alone if it doesn't effect functionality.

SL500 Restoration Blog

Just picked up a new laptop for my collection (sisters old laptop). This Lenovo SL500 Thinkpad is running a dual core P7350 CPU and clocks at a whopping 2.0Ghz right out of the gate. The laptop itself is fairly beat up but we have a plan in motion to restore it back to like new condition. And we won...

It is truly incredible to see how well these machines perform almost 11 years on. Of course you have the obvious upgrades, x9000 and SSD come to mind, but it's a small price to pay for an authentic and vintage Lenovo experience. The T61 is my go-to laptop as well, and has been for more than a decade...

Re: Artifacts/distortion occasionally when playing youtube videos in HD (T61p)

I was able to undervolt the CPU a little further and I backed it down to 2.7Ghz... seems to help keep the GPU temps down slightly... so we are getting there - with the driver change video stuttering is down to a minimum. Just a shame there is no manual control for the fan. I'd like to set it at abou...

Re: Artifacts/distortion occasionally when playing youtube videos in HD (T61p)

Well under windows 7 nVidia Inspector works just fine. What are your temps? Do not expect the difference to be that spectacular. Good to know. GPU temps seem to parallel my CPU temps in most situations. For example, GPU idles around 55*C and ramps up to about 70-75*C under load. Just wondering what...
