Re: X1 Carbon 7th gen choice

I went ahead and ordered the X1. It will be interesting to see how it operates, I’m expecting to be surprised — hopefully positively!

Re: X1 Carbon 7th gen choice

Only applications that need more processing power and can take advantage of the extra cores will benefit from bumping up to a quad. There's not many of those on your list. I'm thinking it might be better to try the new batteries and see how that works. If it doesn't improve things sufficiently, I i...

Re: X1 Carbon 7th gen choice

Given my uses, how significant a difference would the X1 Carbon 7th gen make? I am pretty satisfied with my T460s, but would like something lighter weight and better battery life. But it’s a lot of money to spend for what be fairly modest differences. T460s has i5-6250U processor, 20GB RAM, 500GB SS...

Re: T460s, camera and windows 1903

I see the Camera section in Device Manager on my T460s as well in 1903. It is working as intended.

I hope the OP got his working in 1903.

Re: X1 Carbon 7th gen choice

I have been considering an upgrade to the new X1 Carbon for three reasons. One is battery life on the T460s that I have used for 3 1/2 years. After about a year or so, it decreased, and I started using it less. Replacement batteries were difficult to get. The second is the processor speed gains. The...

Re: X1 Carbon 7th gen choice

Yes, the RAM is the thing that concerns me. I never had too much RAM, presently with 20GB (an older Thinkpad that could accept more RAM). I will go with the 16GB, it seems more a better functional investment.

Carbon X1 5th gen WQHD display

I am curious about the text size on the WQHD display compared to the FHD display. I have an older model FHD (T460s) and am pretty pleased with it, but if ordering the new laptop would rather have the higher resolution display for photographic work. Can someone give me an idea of how much smaller the...

Left arrow key reseating

This key popped out when I was reinstalling my keyboard, and I can't figure out how to get it back in. I have always been able to reinstall a key before. Any suggestions or video on this one? I have scoured the web and not found anything pertinent to my X220. As you can see from the two shots, the w...

Re: Upgrading with M.2 SSD drives

The original T460s was returned because of a defect, before I ever ordered the replacement SSD. The original T460s had a Samsung MZNLF128HCHP-000L1 drive. The new one also has the 128GB SSD, but this one reads: SAMSUN MZNLF128HCHP-000 SCSI Disk Device This seems to be a Samsung 871 drive. Are these ...

just sayin... upgrade the X220 to Intel Advanced N-6205 card, very low cost upgrade, doubles the internet speed experience. Doubles the speed?? Do you know which wifi card he has in his machine? X220 and website loading question

I have an X220 with IPS display, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, and love it. However, increasingly, load times for website pages seem to be slow, and even after loaded scrolling can be jerky and not consistent. This can be on very fast connections for both download and upload, with cleared cache, and defragmen...

You'd probably need to google the model number to check it. Either get it from device manager or possibly look at the drive itself.
From what I can tell, this is "B" type.

T460s keyboard question

I recently purchased a T460s, which I like a lot. However, I am disappointed that the keyboard, while pretty good, is not the style or quality of my X220. It is the best laptop keyboard I have ever used, and I hate to part with it. I can still return my T460s if there is something better, keyboard-w...

T460s non-touch screen vs touch screen

I was using a small tablet with keyboard for two weeks and so using the touch screen regularly. I just received my new T460s with the non-touch screen and it took a day to get used to not touching the screen. I think I'm cured. I like the matte finish and the lower power usage (I assume) of the non-...

I have read many reviews of the Lavie Z, but no follow up reviews and almost no user reviews. Are there people out there who have used either model and can report how it is to use over time? I have held off from buying. The X220 is running pretty well, battery is relatively new and in good shape. The screen remains excellent, and so there remains little to complain about except for the speed, which I think could be quite a bit faster. The 14" at the same weight (or actually a bit less) ...

Re: Futureproofing X220

I have the i5-2520M processor running Windows 10 Pro with 8GB RAM and the IPS screen. The weakest point for me is the processor speed, which is not bad, and maybe more RAM would improve that. The screen is beautiful and the keyboard is, well, the best. Windows 10 runs perfectly on it. Now, I also wi...
