You don't say which version of Knoppix your trying to boot, but if it is the 2.6 kernel you will have to pass "knoppix pnpbios=off' as your startup argument. That will tell the kernel to ignore simple boot flags in the Thinkpads bios and assign correct interrupts to the drive controllers ect. It sou...

That is a very nice score there :D It is actually in the neighborhood of Via Epia 1200+ (it got a 406) I built a few months back. My Celeron 466 is a 66 mhz FSB so seeing the increase in memory bandwidth difference for the 100 mhz part is interesting to say the least. I am tempted to try a PIII cpu ...

My new battery hadn't arrived yet when I did my bios update, so I followed a suggestion from one of the other threads here to place my old, dead battery in a plastic bag to protect against condensation then popped it into the freezer overnight. I was able to get a 40% charge into it the next day bef...

After I installed the INET36WW BIOS upgrade I had the same problem. After messing around for a few hours I finally removed the CMOS battery for about 5 minutes and it cleared up the problem nicely.

For some reason initializing the machine in EZ Setup wasn't enough to clear NVRAM after the upgrade.

Lets Race

For the past few weeks I've been fixing up a 600E (2645-4AU) that I bought as a basket case on eBay. The previous owner had run the 366 PII without the fan, so my first task was to replace it with a celeron 466 and a new fan/heat sink. I then scored 2 brand new IBM 33L3069 256 MB SODIMMs still seale...

That's a known windows bug that never seems to get fixed. Just log out, then log back in and they should all appear.

I have one I bought last month that I ended up not using. I've got $15.00 into it, so I'd like to get that back out of it plus shipping.

It uses 2 72 pin SODIMMS, 16 MB each. IBM FRU 59G3998.

I thought I'd post an update in case anyone was interested. I found some generic 32MB, non-parity, FPM SODIMMS that are intended for an older Toshiba laptop on eBay. I installed them in the IBM 59G3998 adapter and the system counted up the full 64MB of RAM, then stalled with a 201 error. With one of...

755CD 9545FBL > 40MB of RAM

Hello all I was perusing the user manual on the 755CD I am restoring and noticed a vague reference to more than 40 megs main memory. Here's the quote: "You might want to install more memory to maximize the computer's capability. Instead of using IC DRAM cards, you can install the DIMM adapter, with ...
