Yes. No heat problems.
ThrottleStop doesn't resume akways on wake-up', but otherwise it works well.

The X9100 in my W500 rubs well, overclocked to just under 4GHz using ThrottleStop.

You're right. Last time I checked I didn't find any at such a low price.

I use ThrottleStop to overclock in a W500. I don't have a X9100 in my W700.

Re: Is this w700 worth buying?

I don't know if it's rare, but it's a very good and bright TN display (the only ThinkPad display I've ever run at less than full brightness). Keep in mind it's CCFL and old, and replacements are extremely expensive. But if your buddy says it's in good shape, don't think twice. And don't worry about ...

The X9100 in my W500 runs up to 4GHz with no problem. Throttlestop and about an hour of your time will get you there.

Government auction site

The British Columbia government auctions their unneeded IT equipment, including Thinkpads, on their web site. They have a lot of IT equipment on sale, including Thinkpads. Much of it is in lots, but there are also individual units. Listings are updated regularly. Prices can be extremely attractive. ...

Re: How much is a W700 worth?

I recently bought a pristine W700 (2752 RZ2 - WUXGA) from the British Columbia government's auction site. Price came to $127, including adapter, dead battery, no operating system, shipped to New York state. They have a lot of IT equipment on sale, including Thinkpads. Much of it is in lots, but ther...

Selecting "Mobile" in the CPU type selection field of the Advanced CPU settings page changed the voltages available, and all steps are now running at 1.05V except for 11x which requires 1.0875. :)

Re: X9100 in T500 shuts down

Well, that processor sure heats up fast. About 7 seconds till shut down without thermal paste. With thermal paste it's idling around 57C! Not much hotter than the P8400. I didn't update the BIOS, but Performance Monitor is showing processor speeds of 800, 1.6, 2133, and yes 3.06 :) If you want to u...

Re: X9100 in T500 shuts down

I haven't updated the BIOS. It is version 2.16, 2009-04-22. Is that likely to be a problem? I'll update it if yes, or if will bring other real benefits. But not just to have the latest version. I tried running it only on AC power, no battery. I didn't see a BIOS setting for SpeedStep in the CPU sect...

X9100 in T500 shuts down

I just installed an X9100 in a T500 and before I closed it up I tried several times to boot it. Each time it shut down after about 7 seconds. Some times the power LED remains on, some times it goes out and I have to remove/reinsert the power cable to get it back on. If I reinstall the P8400 which I'...

I suggest you use Firefox as your browser, and install Firemin, a free utility that cuts FF RAM usage by about 80-90%.

Re: Is It Possible To Use PC's Bluetooth In Place of BT Mouse's USB dongle?

I did this with an old Logitech Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. I lost the use of some of the buttons because the Logitech driver, needed to recognize them, wouldn't work with the standard Bluetooth receiver in my T500. If you decide to do this, I highly recommend AutoHotKey. It will easily detect the...

I did a System Restore to a point I'm confident is before the problem started, didn't help. The only other unaccountted-for change is that the palm rest has gotten loose recently. Actually, the electrical tape I use to secure it (some screws are missing) got loose. But it's been loose before and I d...

Can't turn off microphone

For a few days now the internal microphone in my T60p is always on. Touching the palm rest, and pretty much anything on the base, sends sounds through the microphone and out the speaker jack to the external amp + speakers. I disabled the 3 SoundMAX recording devices, didn't help.

I heard about FireMin from you, and it's amazing. So I'll check out PaleMoon.
If it runs most of my FF add-ins, and if it doesn't constantly hit the disk, I'll switch.
Thanks.
