I suggest you use Firefox as your browser, and install Firemin, a free utility that cuts FF RAM usage by about 80-90%.

Try a sound enhancer, such as DFS, BonGiovi, etc. They produce stunning impr9vements.

Muse, the Edge Swipes that drove you crazy drove me crazy. It took time, but I found a solution: https://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=73&t=125685 I just checked the site, it's very slow for some reason. How to disable trackpad Edge Swipe gestures

The leftward swipe (which opens the Windows Explorer) and the rightward swipe (which shows all open apps, similar to Alt-Tab) drove me *crazy*. I tried to disable them using the Group Policy Editor, and the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\EdgeUI\AllowEdgeSwipe =0 key, as descr...

Re: Is It Possible To Use PC's Bluetooth In Place of BT Mouse's USB dongle?

I did this with an old Logitech Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. I lost the use of some of the buttons because the Logitech driver, needed to recognize them, wouldn't work with the standard Bluetooth receiver in my T500. If you decide to do this, I highly recommend AutoHotKey. It will easily detect the...

Re: Can't turn off microphone

I did a System Restore to a point I'm confident is before the problem started, didn't help. The only other unaccountted-for change is that the palm rest has gotten loose recently. Actually, the electrical tape I use to secure it (some screws are missing) got loose. But it's been loose before and I d...

Can't turn off microphone

For a few days now the internal microphone in my T60p is always on. Touching the palm rest, and pretty much anything on the base, sends sounds through the microphone and out the speaker jack to the external amp + speakers. I disabled the 3 SoundMAX recording devices, didn't help.

You can get a noticeable boost to audio quality and volume using sound enhancement software, such as Bongiovi DPS (freeware) and DFX (free-to-try).

I heard about FireMin from you, and it's amazing. So I'll check out PaleMoon.
If it runs most of my FF add-ins, and if it doesn't constantly hit the disk, I'll switch.
Thanks.

Re: T60p CPU upgrade problem

OK, after a lot of work I think it's fixed. What did it was editing a few registry keys related to the hard disk, as detailed in: http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/156279-bsod-0x0000007b-0x80786b58-0xc0000034-0x00000000-0x00000000.html On restart, the unit installed the IDE and ATA hard d...

Re: T60p CPU upgrade problem

I upgraded the BIOS and replaced the CPU, and all seemed well. Then I used NHC to undervolt, and at a certain point the system froze (don't recall if it was BSOD or a failure during NHC tests). Since then, the system usually BSODs during startup. A few times it worked for a minute or two. Initially ...

T60p CPU upgrade problem

I replaced the T2500 in my T60p with a T7600 and when I try to start it, it runs for a few seconds then shuts off, without any beeps. Some times the fan continues running, some times not.

Re: Docking problem

OK, I fixed it, or at least improved it. There are two pins with slanted heads on either side of the multi-pin port. Lowering the computer onto the dock forces these pins to slide towards you, releasing two other (square) pins which lower into the dock, allowing docking. The pins with the slanted he...

Docking problem

It's getting harder and harder to dock my T500 in my Advanced Mini-Dock. I have to fiddle with it more and more, and use more and more force. I'm worried I'll break or bend something. No problems undocking it.
Anyone have any relevant experience or tips?

T42p startup problem

When starting up my T42p, if it's got AC power, the green battery light goes out and the unit won't start. If I remove & replace the battery it starts up. I can then plug the adapter back in and everything is fine, including battery charging. I've tried using 2 different batteries, both fine, & 2 di...

Can larger SSDs be used in a T42p?

Most of the SSD conversion discussions here have focused on 60 GB SSDs. Amazon's running sale on SSDs, and I was wondering if they could be used (and are they recommended) in a T42p (2373-P64). For example: OCZ Vertex 2 120 GB SATA II 2.5" Solid State Drive (OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G) http://www.amazon.com/...
