If battery life is your reason for jumping up to the T410s, prepare to be disappointed. I get just about 3 hours when using both batteries.

hi everyone! Very interresting thread! I bought today a T430s and I am about to buy a kit for the screen replacement. Re: Is T420s readable in shaded sunlight?

The screen sucks, no doubt about it. Outdoors in the shade, it is readable, but leaves a lot to be desired. Battery life is where the T420s really outshines. With the main battery plus an ultrabay battery, I get close to 5 hours of general usage. T430s model would be worth considering if you plan on...

Where do you get that from? The magnesium roll-cage is still around and more advanced than ever. I got that from viewing the HMM for those manuals and from the sales sheet on the website. Disappointed in Retro ThinkPad Survey 3

Surveys 1 & 2 were exciting, thinking about the possibilities that may come. Survey 3 did not bring that same feeling. From the way the questions are worded in Survey 3, it seems that Lenovo doesn't anticipate the possibility of a thin & light machine that has a lot of power, ports, and upgradable. ...

Arctic Silver is not going to make a big enough difference for this to make any sense. Just because it physically fits does not mean it mechanically fits. If you swap a 351W engine into a 4-cylinder Mustang without upgrading the radiator, you fool with issues the entire time you own the contraption.

The BIOS gets the code to reload from the internet. If you install Windows while disconnected, then use a firewall like comodo or something in Custom mode, you will see it as soon as the new OS installation is first connected to the internet. You can block it at that time. I once moved my computrace...

Good ole MIGR-76367. As far as suggestions on a new screen, I would say ebay. The part number to search for is in the HMM. The prices on these screens have fluctuated greatly over the last 3 years. At one point in time a while back, the lowest you could find a T410s screen for was $180. My T410s sat...

The absolute best option available is exactly what Aurora said, the mSATA to microSATA adapter. I use the mSATA slot in my T420s for additional storage, not performance. As dr_st said, you would have to have a really old and crappy SSD for the mSATA to give a performance boost to. The Crucial M500 and Samsung Evo lines are selling for very cheap right now. I may upgrade my 256GB mSATA to a 480...
