Re: x1c sleeve

the problem is that the carbon is radically small for a 14". I recommend buying 13" sized sleeves. Another problem I ran into, that isn't that bad really, is that the carbon is so thin that the sleeve doesn't fit snugly around it. I've seen sleeves that are marketed specially for ultrabooks, but the...

Re: ThinkPad turns 20

I've got the Carbon, and I'm typing on it right now. As you can see from my signature, the Carbon isn't my first TP. I was strongly against the change in the layout, and honestly I really felt Lenovo was doing it to appeal to the masses. After using the X1c for a month now, I can say I am very satis...

Re: Thinkpadders: What Smartphone do you prefer?

I'm an android.
I patiently await the day when Lenovo phones come to the US.
Until then, I'm buying Google's next flagship. And if they finally do the multiple vanilla phone thing, I'll probably go with Samsung.

Re: R30 IRQ Error

I know this post is from forever ago, but I have a very similar problem. I actually have the exact same problem, with the same errors, but I also have a bios setup password. My R30 was given to me by someone who forgot the password. The password prevents me from even changing the date and time. I re...

Re: Your first Thinkpad

My first thinkpad was the T30. My dad found it in the trash a little over a year ago. He knew I loved IBM, but I hadn't really discovered thinkpads yet. It has a p4 1.6GHz, 256 Ram originally but I upgraded it to 1 gig. The keyboard is simply amazing. I never knew a computer could be so well designe...

Re: 2012 thinkpads?

lol Ok, well I just now need to do video editing and i didn't before and of course a p4 can't do 720p editing. So i was thinking, just buy a new computer, but why buy one now when ivy is coming out so soon? And I need a laptop and most of ivy's new features are geared towards laptops. So I was think...

Re: 2012 thinkpads?

I'm quite looking forward to buying the X230. Some Chinese websites are talking about both an X230 and an X230 Hybrid to be unveiled at next year's CES (in January, that is). Also, Lenovo will probably release a laptop for the Thinkpad's 20 year anniversary - some, including me, are hoping for an X...

Re: 2012 thinkpads?

I guess I'm not fine with those limitations. I guess there is a market for them and they are an interesting concept but I would rather have a thicker computer. I like the idea of an ultrabookish design on a netbook. take the eeepc X101 for example. If all you are doing is very light surfing and emai...

Re: 2012 thinkpads?

I couldn't agree more. Why make a laptop thin for no reason other than to make it thin? It takes away a whole bunch of features and it really doesn't add that much portability. There has always been a decent amount of light and portables out there, and they're a good idea, but we can't just abandon ...

Re: Video Cables

I would say in order of quality (and this is just an estimate)

HDMI>DVI>VGA

I leave AV out because that depends way to much on the system. Also AV is really uncommon for computers.

2012 thinkpads?

Does anyone have a clue when the next series of thinkpads will be released? I was looking at getting a new one, but I don't want an ultrabook (hate that design!). I did some research and there is some news on 2012 thinkpads, but every website says they will be ultrabooks. Is this just because of the...

Re: T30 charger work with X130e?

that's a little disappointing. Do all modern thinkpad chargers work with all thinkpads? Sorry for not knowing so much, I haven't been following TPs for a while. It seems lenovo sells 2 different chargers: a 65 watt and a 90 watt. I'm guessing at least some thinkpad chargers work with a certain group...

Re: The big, the small, and the tiny ;-)

It's Ubuntu 11.10 on the T61, Linux Mint 11 on the X41T and Win98 FE in the 240... Sweet, I only do ubuntu LTS releases. So right now all my computers have lucid, except for my bro's dell duo. I upgraded that to 11.10 because unity is great for touch screens. I only have a t30 and an r30. My dad fo...

T30 charger work with X130e?

I have a t30 and an r30 and I love them dearly. I plan however to get the new x130e. I have around 6 or 7 chargers that work with both the t30 and r30. They are all 72 watt (16V, 4.5A). Would these chargers work with the X130e? If so, do all thinkpad chargers work with all thinkpads? thanks in advan...
