Re: X230 6-cell battery re-celling considerations, 30+ and 44+ battery info [includes pictures]

There is information on the restoration of the original batteries http://www.karosium.com/2016/08/hacking-r2j240-lgc.html http://www.karosium.com/2016/08/hacking-bq8030-with-sanyo-firmware.html So I just used the BMS of a cheap battery in an original lenovo body with some Panasonic high capacity cel...

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos

I received a parcel from xiphmont.
The new version of Daylight LED Strip is fantastic.
This Daylight LED lighted up my dark display.
Color rendition is excellent for this display.
I recommend to everyone.

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos

Oh *those* LEDs! The grey-market Chinese ones with the crazy-good-seeming measured specs and really awful-looking construction. Well... that answers how long they last, and how they got those specs :-( I should make you a new strip with the Nichias I found shortly after. They're much nicer, and I k...

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos

Hi!
As it has long received a test kit. It looks like my LEDs are degraded. :( Now I can get a maximum of 40-50 nits units.
Perhaps, this problem was due to overheating.

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos

The problem of uneven brightness distribution is much worse. All the SXGA+ screens I have ever measured were darker on the left side and much brighter on the right. I have no explanation for that. Maybe some pressure inside the screen. If the LED strip were twisted it should be visible through the ...

Everything works fine, but there is overheating. Overheating is not the processor. I installed radiator 42X3805 by x61.The power supply system has a low CPU temperature. I think it is overheating Northbridge or something near it. I installed the drivers for the video card. http://brenton.nom.za/foru...

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos

Xiphmont maniac! Your maximum brightness measurements are mostly higher than I would have expected. Certainly higher than my Spyder ever showed on the same screen type. Equipment differences due to your narrow angle of measurement again? What type of screen you have in mind? The measurements are ver...

False alarm and facepalm =) BTW, the second channel is only active under load-- the master controller will shut it down to save power when there's insufficient current demand. Make sure the machine is crunching hard before looking for activity on the second channel. Yes, under the high load everythi...

Trying to do today Full VRM. I made a mistake. I forgot to remove 26 R634. Laptop works, but the second phase does not work.
Perhaps I damaged ADP3419.
In FETs U2 and U6 no control signal.

OTOH, I have high lead levels (probably from a lifetime of working with lead, not just solder), and one of my boys also ended up with clinical lead poisoning as a toddler. Also, I have pets and my workshop is at home... I just won't use leaded solder (or any kind of lead) for projects anymore. I al...

Re: X61 Tablet New Batteries Won't Charge

Seconding WileE, 6 years of storage is right at the threshold of a LiIon battery failing from simply losing charge on the shelf. I've bought plenty of NOS thinkpad batteries of 5-8 years old that were DOA just from discharge in storage. OTOH, if it does charge, then it's still fine. Plus, controlle...

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos

K100LD lead-free eutectic solder yes.
Lead-free solder requires higher temperature soldering. Many repairers do not like a lead-free solder. Often even make reballing BGA chips on lead solder to the soldering not to overheat the chip.

You removed the metal bracket from the waveguide? Doing that costs you half of the achievable brightness of your LED strip. That is something that should always be avoided, especially with any kind of IPS display. It is impossible to put everything together again as it was before. Yes, i removed me...

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos

The boards fit perfectly on a X61 inverter board. Max brightness is about the same as with the fancyboost kits before the PWM mod. Around 240 nits in a SXGA+ X61. You have received a high brightness. I got the maximum brightness of 120 nits, but I glued protective glass and other display model HV12...

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos

Colorimeters need to know the backlight, and if the software is automatically guessing the backlight correction based on the panel EDID, it's probably going to calibrate it as if it had a CCFL. It is quite possible, but I doubt it. Interesting to see the original display parameters. I looked three ...

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos

Keep in mind that you need a spectrophotometer based calibrator to calibrate arbitrary backlights, not just a colorimiter-based calibrator. Or, if you use a colorimeter, it needs to know the exact backlight in use because it's only sampling at three frequency bands, and you end up with an undersamp...

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos

Yes, the CCFL tubes are very fragile! But if only some rubber gets stuck, you can push it out with a thin dowel, or even just some q-tips with the cotton cut off. The tubes are fragile, but the screen matrix, when still assembled, is not. Just be sure not to use something like a metal rod with a sh...

Re: Another X61T/s overclocking thread: BSEL + Full VRM

Hello)
Very Nice post. I'm used ThrottleStop for overlclock.
My config http://kodabra.ru/pictures/x61t_1.jpg
I made a hole that had been closed.
http://kodabra.ru/pictures/x61t.jpg
I want to make the second phase of the VRM.
Thanks for the info.
