Ceramic capacitors can be heated.- could this SMD capacitor be damaged by heat? Seems to be ceramic, so could it withstand some more heating?

I think that this is a capacitor 1 uF 10V- if not, is there any equivalent for these caps? I did not found specification for SCD1U10V2KX-4GP

I must have screwed something up during this whole process, because now the backlight on the native LVDS display isn't working either, just a dim picture where the only thing I can make out are the white details. The backlight fuse may have burned. All connections must be made without connecting po...

90 degrees is the normal temperature.
When I had problems, the temperature was above 100 degrees. Now applied liquid metal and silver. It was possible to reduce the temperature below 90 degrees.

Oh *those* LEDs! The grey-market Chinese ones with the crazy-good-seeming measured specs and really awful-looking construction. Hi!
As it has long received a test kit. It looks like my LEDs are degraded. Now I can get a maximum of 40-50 nits units.
Perhaps, this problem was due to overheating.

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
The problem of uneven brightness distribution is much worse. All the SXGA+ screens I have ever measured were darker on the left side and much brighter on the right. I have no explanation for that. Maybe some pressure inside the screen. If the LED strip were twisted it should be visible through the ...

Everything works fine, but there is overheating. Overheating is not the processor. I installed radiator 42X3805 by x61.The power supply system has a low CPU temperature. I think it is overheating Northbridge or something near it. I installed the drivers for the video card. http://brenton.nom.za/foru...

Make sure the machine is crunching hard before looking for activity on the second channel. Yes, under the high load everythi...

Trying to do today Full VRM. I made a mistake. I forgot to remove 26 R634. Laptop works, but the second phase does not work.
Perhaps I damaged ADP3419.

OTOH, I have high lead levels (probably from a lifetime of working with lead, not just solder), and one of my boys also ended up with clinical lead poisoning as a toddler. Also, I have pets and my workshop is at home... I just won't use leaded solder (or any kind of lead) for projects anymore. I al...

Seconding WileE, 6 years of storage is right at the threshold of a LiIon battery failing from simply losing charge on the shelf. I've bought plenty of NOS thinkpad batteries of 5-8 years old that were DOA just from discharge in storage. OTOH, if it does charge, then it's still fine. Plus, controlle...

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
Lead-free solder requires higher temperature soldering. Many repairers do not like a lead-free solder. Often even make reballing BGA chips on lead solder to the soldering not to overheat the chip.K100LD lead-free eutectic solder yes.

That is something that should always be avoided, especially with any kind of IPS display. It is impossible to put everything together again as it was before. Yes, i removed me...

The boards fit perfectly on a X61 inverter board. Max brightness is about the same as with the fancyboost kits before the PWM mod. Around 240 nits in a SXGA+ X61. You have received a high brightness. I got the maximum brightness of 120 nits, but I glued protective glass and other display model HV12...

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
Colorimeters need to know the backlight, and if the software is automatically guessing the backlight correction based on the panel EDID, it's probably going to calibrate it as if it had a CCFL. It is quite possible, but I doubt it. Interesting to see the original display parameters. I looked three ...

Re: X6X-series LED backlight conversion kit howtos
Keep in mind that you need a spectrophotometer based calibrator to calibrate arbitrary backlights, not just a colorimiter-based calibrator. Or, if you use a colorimeter, it needs to know the exact backlight in use because it's only sampling at three frequency bands, and you end up with an undersamp...

Yes, the CCFL tubes are very fragile! But if only some rubber gets stuck, you can push it out with a thin dowel, or even just some q-tips with the cotton cut off. The tubes are fragile, but the screen matrix, when still assembled, is not. Just be sure not to use something like a metal rod with a sh...
