Re: W10 x86 LTSC installation on X60s

When I started MCT it asked whether I want to burn it onto the USB stick or just download an iso warning that in the latter case I'd have to burn it myself. I chose the former option and it never asked me to select a desired version - it just downloaded and burned something that got me past the logo...

Re: W10 x86 LTSC installation on X60s

Use the W10 USB creation tool and try again. It's the dedicated one from MS and IMO the only one you should use. EDIT: I guess that's what the Media Creation tool is called. It actually proceeds just fine from a USB stick prepared by the Media Creation Tool (sorry I didn't mention it at once), howe...

Re: W10 x86 LTSC installation on X60s

Are you using a CD-ROM drive or a USB to install W10? Tried a USB stick prepared using various tools (Rufus, UUI, diskpart) with MBR and FAT32/NTFS. Also tried installing the same image via the network (PXE) - ending at the very same stage (visually at least). Image checksum is fine. Note : I do ge...

W10 x86 LTSC installation on X60s

Hi All,

Is there a known way of installing W10 x86 LTSC (ideally v1809) on IBM ThinkPad X60s? No matter what I try it gets stuck at the very early stage with a logo alone displayed w/o the spinning dots.

Many thanks in anticipation!

Re: X61 upgrade & Middleton BIOS

To be fair, the benefit of a RAM upgrade is usually felt if the computer was previously sluggish due to constantly running out of free memory and swapping to disk (which is the actual cause of the slowdown). The driver behind the RAM upgrade in my case was an attempt to minimize any swapping indeed...

In my opinion (and I've had several corporate ones in daily abuse over the last 20yrs, from T20 to X1 Carbon Gen6) this one is their best one ever built: those were times when build quality still mattered. Just flash Middleton BIOS to unlock SATA II for up to 300MB/s unless it's already done; the sa...

Re: Intel 82566MM NIC driver for X61s running W10x64

I briefly had an earlier W10x64 version on it in the past (10240) but can't remember anything wrt the NIC as I never used wired networking during that time. An X60s in my household running W8.1x32 has what looks like a somewhat older NIC (82573L, VEN_8086&DEV_109A&SUBSYS_207E17AA), which runs perfec...

Intel 82566MM NIC driver for X61s running W10x64

Hi All, Could anyone please advise an optimal Intel 82566MM NIC driver for X61s running W10x64? This is a fresh W10x64 install and I'm getting "device cannot start". Charging voltage is indicated on the bottom label, and it is 20V. It will not charge on anything less, especially at 5V.
Thanks for the confirmation: it says 20V 2.25A/3.25A on the rear of my X1C6 indeed, so looks like I'm out of luck.

Re: X1C6 charging voltage

energy consumption settles at 43 W ...in which case I suppose it'd be 15V/3A or (more likely) 20V/2.25A circuit of the 4X20M26276 as the other 2 just wouldn't give enough power. Perhaps the 5V/2A circuit of the 4X20M26276 could be used for other applications such as smartphone/tablet charging. Than...

Try a much newer version of the Live ISO, because the X1C6 is a 2018 model.

X1C6 charging voltage

Hi All, Apologies for this simple question: which particular voltage does X1C6 use through USB-C when charging off the standard charger? The USB-C spec tells me there are 2-3 different voltages, in particular 5VDC and 20VDC, hence wondering if a high amp 5VDC charger could be used to charge it. Many...

Could anyone please explain what the "extra" (3rd) wire in X6x CMOS battery is for? Assuming it's a CR2032 (3V) cell inside I'm tempted to make my own because of their ridiculous pricing (>4 times more than what T4x batteries sell for).
